                                        *** UPDATE: These dogs were removed from their home with a warrant which means we will need to pursue ownership through the courts. Until then, they are in protective custody and we cannot place any of these animals up for adoption. That means these dogs will not be up for adoption any time soon, so please do not call the shelter asking to adopt one. They are safe and we will provide for all their needs with the goal of eventually gaining ownership and finding new homes for them. When that time comes, we will update on social media and display them on our website.
*** As stated in the original post, the best way to help now is to adopt animals that are currently up for adoption and eager to find good homes. Please consider it - thank you!***

Original Post;
On Friday afternoon, the Bucks County SPCA rescued 12 dogs from 24-7 Maltese Momma, a Bensalem-based breeder. A citizen complaint of dogs barking in a real estate office resulted in a multi-agency investigation by BCSPCA and Bensalem Township’s Police, Co-Responder, Code Enforcement, and Animal Control. The dogs are toy breeds including Maltese and Yorkies.
The owner, Elaine Corbin of 24-7 Maltese Momma, has been running a breeding operation from her home. The animals were discovered to be living in filthy conditions. The floors were packed down with f***s and there was a strong odor from urine and f***s.
“We transported the 12 dogs to our Quakertown Shelter. They will receive a thorough medical evaluation from our shelter veterinarian and receive any needed medical treatment to recover,” said Linda Reider, BCSPCA executive director. “The Bucks County SPCA strongly objects to the inhumane treatment of animals and irresponsible breeding operations. This is a cautionary tale for would be puppy buyers to do good research and only purchase puppies from reputable licensed breeders. Even better, adopt from your local animal shelter.”
In addition to the dogs rescued today, BCSPCA has been called on to help 15-20 cats abandoned by their recently evicted owner in Perkasie. Summer is the height of the busy season for shelters across the nation. Our two animal shelters are already running at capacity, and these large intakes are a huge stress on staff and resources.
We ask the community to step up now and adopt one of our many available dogs and cats to help free up resources for the newest arrivals. Food and supply costs continue to rise. Please consider a financial donation to support the rescue and recovery of these and other animals who are counting on us. Visit our website or shelters to donate and view pets ready to go home today.
BCSPCA will be charging Ms. Corbin for failure to provide sanitary living conditions. She may face additional charges resulting from concurrent investigations by other agencies.
