Creature Comforts Pet Care

Creature Comforts Pet Care Providing the Boothbay Region with quality pet care since 1990. Drop-in visits or overnight stays in client homes are available. Telephone: (207) 380-5045.

Creature Comforts owner Paula Brown grew up surrounded by animals. She began house and farm sitting in 1984, and is comfortable and experienced with both small animals (cats, dogs, birds and reptiles) and farm animals (horses, cows, goats, alpacas, llamas and chickens). Creature Comforts offers comprehensive service. Paula will either stop by to care for animals several times daily, or stay overni

ght in the home. (Most owners prefer the latter, knowing that their pets are more comfortable in familiar surroundings.) Creature Comforts offers reliable service, reasonable rates, and references. Although Paula's primary service area is the greater Boothbay Region, she is open to jobs further afield. Creature Comforts has an affordable base rate for house pets and another for farm animals. Prices may vary slightly depending on the total number of animals requiring care, as well as special needs. Please feel free to contact Paula for an estimate. Also, an introductory visit to meet you and your pets is free, with no obligation!

What better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than to enjoy quiet time on a porch swing, enjoying a water view of the Damariscotta River, with two beautiful dogs basking in the sun by my feet?

Tess (Australian Shepherd) and Harley (Border Collie) are as sweet as they look.

Aspen (caught mid-meow here) has appropriated the dog's bed. Because he's a rescue, I'm ot entirely certain if his lineage is Maine C**n or Norwegian Forest. I do know he's 100% and 20+ pounds of TOTAL love bug.

Don’t Wait—Plan Ahead for the Fourth of July!

The Fourth of July is fast approaching, and while it’s a time for fun and celebration, it can be incredibly stressful for our pets. Fireworks, unfamiliar noises, and big gatherings can cause fear, anxiety—and even lead to pets running away.

Now is the time to talk to your vet about calming medications or supplements—don’t wait until the week of the holiday, when appointment slots and medication supplies may be limited!

And don’t forget regular prescription refills! With many vet offices closed or short-staffed over the holiday, it’s important to make sure you’re stocked up on essential medications like seizure meds, heart medications, and more. Unless you have a written prescription, emergency or urgent care hospitals will legally be unable to refill these medications without first performing an exam on your pet.

✅ Other ways to keep pets safe this holiday:
• Make sure your pet’s microchip information is up to date—just in case they get spooked and run.
• Secure fences, gates, and doors before guests arrive—anxious pets may bolt when overwhelmed by noise.
• Keep pets indoors during fireworks and parties, in a quiet, safe space with familiar toys or calming aids.

We will be open for the holiday if you need us! Once we open on Thursday, July 3rd at 5:30 PM, we will remain open straight through until Monday, July 7th at 7:00 AM. Please don’t hesitate to call us with any questions or concerns—we’re here to help!

What a wonderful shout out from Boothbay Animal Hospital for National Pet Sitters Week. As a long time pet sitter (and lifelong pet owner), I'm so grateful to have them as a resource, and count the staff as friends.

Leaving your pet behind can be ruff! 🐾 That’s why we want to give a big shout out to the paw-some pet sitters who give our best friends the love and care they deserve while we’re away.
