Earlier this afternoon, I received notification from UPS stating we could expect an imminent delivery of catnip products from our wonderful friends at The Pussums Cat Company.

Then Amy sent me a text that simply read, "Catnip's here," with these photos.

It appears our internal delivery notification system is working just fine. 😹😹

Rain or shine, come visit High Tail Toys tomorrow as we celebrate Spring Fest (with Baby Animals!) at historic Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester, from 10AM - 3PM.

ADMISSION IS FREE! We will be among 25+ vendors present in this idyllic setting.

Explore our handcrafted felted wool creations — unique cat and dog toys, cozy cat caves, floral garlands, plant pots, birdhouses, faux plants and flowers, nature-inspired ornaments, and so much MORE. 🌿

We’ll have over 100 whimsical Finger Puppet designs featuring animals, sea creatures, birds, reptiles, bugs, unicorns, and other imaginative friends for little ones to discover.

Spring Fest is rain or shine! Farm life! We will be moving most of the animals indoors and vendors will be under tents.

Please leave your pets at home. Due to the number of farm animals at this event (and others) we kindly request you not bring your own pets.

High Tail Toys is not just for house pets! We love birds as well, and are pleased to introduce:

Wild Woolies Birdhouses

Functional folk art for feathered friends.

The original handfelted birdhouse — handcrafted to delight both birds and bird lovers alike. These whimsical wool birdhouses serve as charming decorative accents indoors while also providing a cozy nesting shelter for backyard songbirds.

Lovingly handmade in Nepal and Fair Trade Certified, each piece is crafted from sustainably harvested New Zealand sheep’s wool and finished with a crocheted jute hanging cord and hand-carved bamboo perch. Colored using non-toxic AZO-free dyes, they are safe for both people and wildlife.

Small birds such as wrens, chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice are naturally drawn to the soft, insulating wool. Some birds may even gather tiny fibers from the surface to help line their nests.

Many customers display them indoors as artisan décor, though they may also be hung outdoors in a protected area such as beneath a covered porch or patio. Wool naturally repels moisture while remaining breathable, allowing rain or snow to wick through the felt and evaporate as the birdhouse air-dries. Naturally insulating, wool helps keep nests cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

When displayed in sheltered outdoor conditions, these birdhouses can last for years. In direct sun and fully exposed weather, colors may gently soften over time while the structure itself remains durable and intact. Indoors, they can be enjoyed indefinitely.

Cleaning is easy thanks to the convenient clean-out opening located at the base of the birdhouse or accessible through the entry hole.

The cat behind the curtains (weak reference to The Wizard of Oz). This was baby Luna Hufflepuff in 2020. She was the driving force behind our decision to create High Tail Toys.

We love her dearly. ❤️ Luna's story, and those of our other rescue cats, will be coming soon on our new website!
