Sometimes farm life is a hard one. You get used to a routine and it becomes a well-oiled machine to execute the daily responsibilities. Smooth as butter most days! And other times, things go awry, say, when a piece of equipment isn't working as needed (the side-by-side we use to drop hay), or one or BOTH of the well pumps stop working (faulty pump on one last week and a very LOST colony of FIRE ANTS right up inside the electrical box of the other this morning π€―π), you bet it can throw your whole day into a tailspin. Just, whyyyyyy, seriously?!
If you know anything about horses, you know how sensitive they are to our human emotions and demeanor. None of the mishaps and trials we face on the farm are the horses' fault. There is often no one to blame. Yet, they can feel our anxiety and irritability and fear and frustration and anger... so I made sure to remind them as I walked each of them in from the pasture this morning , "I want you to know, you are BEAUTIFUL because God made you that way. You are SAFE because your people LOVE you unconditionally and would do anything for you. And you are HAPPY and HEALTHY BECAUSE you are safe and loved. Don't you ever forget that, {Leggs, Kermie, Munchkin, Destina, Raine, River, Jax, Bodi, Deacon, Thunder, Shamrock, Palmer, Khaleesi, Gunnar, Fred}!"
We will forever be mending fences and repairing equipment and prepping for the next disaster, but sometimes, you have to adjust your perspective and simply appreciate the beauty and serenity of a ππ½πhorse farmπππ½. This place is a special blessing that we are endlessly grateful for. Thank you, God! James 1:2-4 Hope your day is going exceedingly better than ours today! π
