OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Today, my team and I partnered with local law enforcement in Newton County, Missouri during an active criminal investigation involving the seizure of animals from a breeder operation.
Over the course of nearly 8 hours, my team and volunteers personally removed animals from extremely poor living conditions and brought them into safety. The conditions we encountered were heartbreaking. This was physically and emotionally exhausting work, and I could not be more proud of the people standing beside me today. From transport teams, intake coordinators, fosters, veterinary partners, cleaners, and volunteers… every single person stepped up without hesitation for these animals.
At this time, Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary has taken 84 dogs into protective custody, including 83 Great Danes and 1 Doodle. Of those dogs, more than 35 are puppies. The ages of the dogs involved range from newborn puppies to senior dogs.
In addition to the dogs, we also took into custody 2 cockatiels, 1 boa constrictor, 4 scorpions, 1 tarantula, and 1 sugar glider.
At this time, approximately 99% of the dogs taken into custody are presenting with medical concerns requiring evaluation, treatment, monitoring, or ongoing care. Many of these animals are arriving severely underweight, neglected, parasitized, injured, developmentally compromised, or requiring immediate veterinary attention.
All animals involved are currently under the care, management, and supervision of Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary and our volunteer team. Every animal is receiving veterinary evaluation, behavioral assessment, documentation, cleaning, nutrition, and ongoing medical care.
Because this is an active criminal investigation, all animals involved are considered part of the case and will remain in protective custody pending further legal proceedings and a ruling by the court. No animals involved in this operation are available for adoption at this time.
Due to the ongoing investigation, we will not be discussing specific details related to evidence, individuals involved, or further case details beyond what is appropriate for public release.
If you believe one of these animals may belong to you or you have information relevant to this investigation, please complete the following form. My team will review submissions and respond as time allows while we continue managing this operation:

I just left the scene at approximately 6:30 PM and am currently returning to Kansas City with my team. Once I return, get everyone settled, and finally get a chance to breathe, I will be releasing a full press statement and coordinating with news media regarding this operation.
This is one of the largest and most emotionally difficult operations we have ever undertaken, but these animals are finally safe tonight.
