It never gets easier and honestly, I hope it never does, because the day this part stops hurting is the day we stop doing this. 💔
We lost one of Delilah and Rio’s precious Bernese Mountain Dog puppies this morning. Sweet Dayton was born struggling to breathe and after a brief rally he slowly began to decline again and x-rays showed that one side of his heart was thickened and enlarged. We gave SubQ fluids and prepped to tube feed, but unfortunately his little body just wasn’t strong enough.
Once Delilah seemed to understand what was happening, Joanna tucked him into her shirt and that’s where he stayed, warm and peacefully sleeping, for nearly 18 hours before taking his final breath early this morning.
We are heartbroken, but Dayton was never alone and was loved fiercely for his short time here with us. His 7 siblings are chunky and thriving and we're so grateful to have them to continue loving on. Thank you for being with through both the happy and sad times. We love you all 🫶🏼
