unless it proves useful in the field or farm first, it has no business on a show

bench or in a ring for ribbons, a true terriers ribbons are it's scars accrued working in the field and farm and the it's true measure of worth the is held within bond of trust and faith the terrierwoman/man puts in his dog in the process or earning those scars .

" The illustrious Mr Snowball Dinosaur Jr "

Call name , Hey Mister

What a handful of feisty pup.

Mr is a fully health tested potential stud, should mature around 14 to 15 lbs. A great size for working nutria to earth.

A few small throwback photos from days and dogs gone by.

I forget at times how many hunts I've been on ever the years, and even how many years I've been after rats.

I'm still as game as the dogs are, when it comes to smashing rats.

Nora consistently and enthusiasticly kill big rats along with the dogs of

Here Nora takes a position that forces sneaky rats to pay the ultimate toll.

Working terriers should be small, and this shows one of the many good reasons this is fact.

Now that is a seriously large rat.

It's not the heaviest that I've caught but is a monster.

The shovel blade is 16 inches for reference.

A new kid is on the block.

Keep your eyes peeled to watch the development of a promising future.

Thanks to Scott @ Unique Pest Management for a quality health tested good young prospect to add to my program.

He will make great tacos if he doesn't catch rats.

Open to name suggestions?

A little bit of fun with the dogs and friends of # themongrolhoard

Im always surprised at how competitive the dogs can be while on the hunt.

I guess it should be no surprise as I prefer to my working dogs to be mostly bi***es.

I enjoy their serious demeanor when it comes to hunting and rapid growth to maturity.

This location is known for its fancy colored rodents and also the unique danger that working the dogs here brings.

As always just showing off what my idea of a good day hanging out with my friends might include.

Showing off the dogs and friends of

That's a good stack of dead winter breed stock.

The cold clear winter weather has concentrated some great specimens of Rattus Norvegicus and one large Mycastor Coypu ( nutria ) in a old feed store and seed facility.

The clear weather made a great adventure and good time to visit with my longterm hunting partner and run the dogs.

The aquatic nutria are not easy to catch in the winter when the water is cold, this hunting challenge is one of the stiffest the dogs face.

The dogs put up a respectable 70 rats and one large nute and won well deserved rest.

In order to take advantage of the uncharacteristically good weather I took the dogs out for a long weekend.

We were able get wet and dirty in the heavy clay of the and onto multiple terrier game.

A couple of action snap shots from the weekends rat adventures.

Just a black dog putting in work in the cold wet PNW winter clay

If you dont know what this video is, Thats a dog going to ground in a nutria tunnel. Due to the high winter water levels we struggled to get close to the nutria.

Kitty is pushing in and marking that a live nutria is there.

In this video you can not hear her marking due to the soundtrack.

Marking is sharp but not sustained bark that is a function of high drive or frustration. It lets us know live game is close.

Baying is sustained, Staccato barks that let us know the prey is within eye site of the dog, and the location of the dog and prey.

Silence at time in the process of a dog going to ground is the hardest part for me, the waiting while the dogs dogs the work to navigate and locate underground.

not bad for a dog that's part poodle
