Some people don’t understand why a breeder charges so much for a puppy. There is so much involved that the average puppy buyer doesn’t know. Sometimes you spend thousands towards a litter and there is no litter. I haven’t had a litter in a year and half but I still have to feed and care for my dogs. A friend bred her girl for the first time. she was expecting 10 puppies. She was so excited waiting for the arrival of this litter. Her girl went into labor and something went wrong in a blink of an eye lost her precious best friend and all the puppies. No money can replace the heartbreak . It’s bad losing a puppy during the whelp, but losing the mom is devastating.My heart breaks for her. We are not big time breeders. Our dogs are family. They live with us in our homes and are basically our kids. The worst nightmare I could imagine.
