🐾 Tear jerker warning 🐾
One of the hardest parts of this job, and I’m sure so many others in the animal care profession can relate, is that we rarely get the chance to say goodbye to the wonderful pets and clients that we have bonded with over the years. More often than not, our final goodbye comes through reading an email, listening to a voicemail with a trembling voice on the other end, or having a brief caught off guard conversation where we’re trying to process the news while holding back tears and struggling to keep our composure.
Every now and then your heart tells you something is different. You can sense something is off with the dog you have come to know like your own. You find yourself giving one extra hug, one extra kiss on the head and lingering just a little longer before handing them back to their owner. Then you silently watch them walk out the door hoping your gut feeling is wrong.
For the past few years, sweet Dozer has faithfully come in every two weeks with his tail wagging for his spa days. Seeing his gentle soul and sweet face always made our Tuesdays a little brighter!
Last week, we gave Dozer his final spa day. We soaked up every cuddle, kiss, paw shake and savored each precious moment as we said our goodbyes.
Rest easy sweet boy. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your beautiful life. You, like all of the others that have become family to us, will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten. ♥️ 🌈 ♥️
