This beautiful baby died in my hands less than a day after entering rehab. All I could think while I held him was how humans have failed him. His finders wanted to raise him. They wanted to have this beautiful, wild baby to be their pet. (It's illegal to possess wildlife in most states.)

You will hear Wildlife Rehabilitators say, "PLEASE DON'T FEED BABY WILDLIFE". Believe me this is not because we want to have all the fun. It's not "fun" to have these babies come in just to watch them die.😥 There are several reasons why the babies should not be fed. Some of them are:
1) As a Wildlife Rehabilitator we have received proper training.

2) Feeding a cold baby causes shock to their little systems and can kill them.

3) Feeding a baby incorrectly will kill them. If the baby is held the wrong way or fed with the wrong supplies it can cause aspiration which is deadly.

4) Feeding the wrong type of formula/food will kill them.

It's been said that humans are the most deadly animal on the planet. I know that this was not done maliciously but it didn't have to happen. I knew when I was contacted about this baby that he probably wouldn't make it but I didn't want him to die alone, cold, and in pain. I tried with every thing that was in me to make this beautiful creature feel love and compassion before he passed.💔
