Perhaps you are wondering why I chose the name “Chiron Equine"… there are a few reasons. "Chiron" refers to the centaur in Greek mythology who was known as a great healer and teacher. In astrology, Chiron represents the archetype of the wounded healer, symbolizing the potential for healing and transformation through personal challenges. In my life as an equestrian, I have always ended up with the “difficult” horses, the ones who are misunderstood, quirky, the misfits. I can definitely relate as I am often a bit of a misfit and misunderstood. I’m certainly quirky and eccentric. My goal is to help owners understand their horses with a combination of education, listening, understanding, and a little bit of “woo woo” eccentricity. I hope to create a business focused on growth, healing and transformation for both horses and riders.

#1 - kissing spine rehab - 3 week transformation

I love helping horses free up their shoulders, engage their bodies, and to use the proper muscles for ideal movement.

When horses move in dysfunction, it can cause a lot of issues. Proper stretching, relaxation, and movement are key.

Welcome to Chiron Equine!

My name is Chelsey O’Brien and I’ve been an equestrian for over 25 years. My path in horses has varied a lot, I’ve worked in many facets of the equine industry - from breeding and foaling, caring for high performance hunters and jumpers and racehorses, riding countless OTTBs, competing in both English and Western disciplines, teaching lessons for all levels and more… I’ve done a lot, but all roads have always led me to bettering the lives of all horses in any way possible, no matter the issue. I enjoy continuing my education, diving down research wormholes, and learning different methods and modalities to aid in performance and overall health. I consider myself a student of the horse and I believe all horses can teach us something if we just listen. I’m excited to provide Northern Virginia with my services, from training, rehab and consignment, and coming soon - cold laser (and hopefully more!)
