ISO forever home for two senior bonded unrideable geldings that were at my barn on retirement board. The elderly owner surrendered them to me in March because she could no longer afford to pay. I know, I know. Please for the love of horses spare me the "euthanize them" "be careful" "they'll end up on a meat truck" comments. I know every scenario that could befall them - I have rescued 5 of my own and rehabbed multiple client horses - and that is why they are still with me. And they will stay with me if that is what it takes. But I'm hoping someone somewhere out there would love these two beautiful pasture ornaments. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY.
Apache is a 2002 ~15h Registered Paint gelding named "Soots Smokin' Apache" and Diablo is a 1999 ~15h Polish Arabian gelding. They are super sweet boys and I truly want what's best for them. Diablo was a trail horse at the Marriott Ranch in Hume, but hasn't been ridden in probably ten years. Apache, as far as we know, was never broke to ride or drive or anything. He is halter broke and incredibly easy to handle. He is a very kind soul and I think it's a shame every day that he never had a job. He would have made an excellent partner. They live outside 24/7 with a shed and are both really good for the farrier and the vet, although Diablo is very head shy when it comes to fussing with his teeth. They both require soaked feed, but are honestly very easy keepers. Apache is fat on air and Diablo only needs a blanket in winter when it's precipitating. His desert blood will cause him to shiver. They honestly hate blankets, fly masks, boots, halters, or any other human convenience we try to put on them!!!!! Apache gets Zyrtec spring through summer, but that's it. These guys have ZERO health issues, ZERO maintenance, and I mean honestly they're just easy peasy. They get along with everyone, low on the totem pole, can go in a mixed herd, and are just happy as can be as long as they're together.
I hope these cutie patoots peak the interest of someone wonderful! I'm only trying to place them elsewhere because my financial situation has changed and I need the board spots, quite frankly. Otherwise, they'd stay in my care forever. And let's be honest, they may still. I will require a give-back clause in my contract and I will run background checks on every single prospect that replies to this post. The horses' wellbeing will always be my top priority. Look forward to hearing from any seriously interested future homes 🙂 ❤
