This week we said goodbye to one of the little dogs who helped shape so much of what J Bar T became, who was my family’s steady peace in a world of chaos and one of my soul dog’s. ❤️🐾
It took me several days before I could even get to the point of writing this.
J Bar T Cinnaman — Cinnaman to everyone who knew and loved him — was almost 16 years old.
If you ever came to the ranch back in the day, there’s a good chance you remember him… and if you do, you probably remember that smile. ❤️ Cinnaman was always smiling. It was just part of who he was, and it’s one of the things people seemed to remember most about him.
He loved people, loved his family, and somehow always seemed to know exactly how charming he was. 😂
Cinnaman sired many beautiful puppies over the years, and some of you may have one of his babies — or even dogs carrying his line today. He seemed to know which puppies were his, too. He would patiently let them climb all over him, pile on top of him, and lay with them when their mom needed a break.
One of the things I always wanted J Bar T dogs to be known for was being hardy, resilient dogs with good longevity, and Cinnaman lived that in every way.
Years ago, he disappeared for several days and somehow made his way back home after what was clearly a serious animal attack. At only about 12 pounds, I still don’t know how he survived it.
We always joked that maybe he smiled his way out of it — or whatever got ahold of him decided that 12 pounds of bones, fur, personality, and attitude just wasn’t worth the trouble. 😂
But one thing I do know: Cinnaman was not going to give up. He was going to find his way back home to his family.
And he did.
Then he went on to live nearly 16 years.
He was tiny, but there was nothing small about his personality, his loyalty, his resilience, or his heart.
For us, J Bar T Cinnaman will always be more than one of our Aussies. He was part of our family, part of our kids’ childhood, and part of the history and legacy of J Bar T.
If you remember Cinnaman, met him at the ranch, or have one of his puppies or descendants, we would love for you to share a picture or memory below. ❤️
Run free with your Princess, Cinnaman.
You left a pretty big legacy for one little 12-pound dog — and I have a feeling a lot of people will always remember that smile. 🐾❤️
