Opened in March of 2012 by Dr. Werning, Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital is a full service small animal hospital.

Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital was opened by Dr. Joyce Werning in March 2012. Dr. Emily Jones Guy joined the team in October of 2018. Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital is a full service animal hospital seeing both emergency cases as well as less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues as well as routine care. Dr. Joyce Werning and Dr. Jones Guy are experienced in all types of conditions and treat

ments. We provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges. Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital recognizes those clients that are active or retired military or member of law enforcement by extending a discount to thank you for your service. Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital also extends a senior discount to all eligible clients. This dog was seen wandering the fields around 165th St and Zachary Ave in Blue Grass this morning around 7:20a. It appears that he is wearing a basket muzzle, which can hinder his ability to defend himself if approached by a predator. Please share this post in hopes of getting him reunited with his family sooner rather than later. Blue Grass Police and Animal Protection Services (Muscatine & Scott counties) will be contacted ASAP. This is Buddy. Buddy has been missing since 1:30pm on 4-27-26. He is a 12 year old boxer/pit mix. He was last seen around 7pm yesterday by Utah Ave/ Telegraph Road. If you have any information, please contact his worried mom, Jessica, at 563-271-2772. Please help reunite him with his family!

Today is a bittersweet day as we say goodbye to Karissa. After four wonderful years with us at Blue Grass Vet, she is leaving to go back to school as a full-time student to become a Veterinary Technician.

As we continue to celebrate Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week, we want to highlight the newest member of our team, Vicki! Although Vicki has only been with us for about 7 months, we definitely consider her part of the family and a HUGE asset to the Blue Grass Veterinary Hospital team! We love her easygoing personality, ability to be patient (especially in times of crisis), love of ALL animals (even gross bugs!), and are amazed by how fast she is learning everything. Thank you for all you do-we appreciate you Vicki!

It's National Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week!
Today we want to feature Sara who has been with us for just over 5 years! She is one of the first faces you see when you come in and one of the main voices you probably hear on the phone. Sara is always willing to listen and help whenever you or your pet need anything. She has the biggest heart and is willing to jump in and help wherever she can while always wanting to learn more. We appreciate you so much Sara-thank you for all you do!

"Meet Moose 🐾

This lovable big boy is about 1½ years old and is looking for a new home. Moose is a mixed breed (we believe Pit Bull/Great Dane), and he truly has a huge heart to match his size.

Moose is incredibly affectionate and loves being around his people. He does well with other dogs, although he can play a little rough at times (he doesn't quite realize how big he is!).

Unfortunately, Moose has recently shown aggression toward cats, so he will need a home without them.

He also has some anxiety and is currently on medication, which has been helping. Because he's still young and was rescued, he hasn't had consistent training, so he will need a patient owner who is willing to work with him and continue building his confidence.

Moose has so much love to give and would thrive in the right home—one that can provide structure, understanding, and lots of affection ❤️
