"And this is why you say you don't want an aquarium"
Difference in Saltwater and freshwater aquaria.
1. Cost - more equipment is needed , having to buy salt to mix in water to make saltwater, fish are more expensive, testing equipment is more expensive and a must have for salt.
2. Time- more time is needed for maintenance and testing of water parameters to keep tank balanced and stable compared to freshwater.
3. Misinformed- Intimidating information passed along throughout the saltwater community and all the equipment that is available making people think they have to purchase to be successful.
A freshwater aquarium can be just as colorful and vibrant as a saltwater aquarium. There are tons of fish that are not available locally for a lot of people so they are not aware of the different species out there. Tank decor can be another factor that limits what people are aware of, people tend to buy artificial decor sold locally because of what's available. There are several different types of rocks and driftwoods out there for sale that are not readily available for people in their local fish store. By choosing the right fish you could even design your tank to look identical to a saltwater tank using the same sand, rock, and lights. Lastly, when it comes to fish color and size both can be matched in a freshwater aquarium. Africa has some of the most colorful fish. In Central and South America you can find some of the more larger fish having some very nice colors. Whatever type of aquarium you choose there is much to enjoy and benefit from. Aquariums can help with a number of health issues like anxiety and depression by creating a calming environment during healing or stressful times. Aquariums can also add to a room's appearance by setting the tank on a nice cabinet stand and topping it with a matching canopy. People love to walk into a room and see a beautiful large aquarium its almost like they can't stop staring or taking about it.
