Working on our “Head Down” command…atta’ girl! Would you believe this girl survived an intentional house fire less than a week before I traveled out to Washington to rehabilitate her? She still had burn wounds that were healing. And she sure as hell had no reason to trust anyone (let alone me) after her old “owner” had intentionally burned his house down with multiple animals inside. Give Luna some love!

Hard, CIVIL dog that tracks well, has solid OB on him, is environmentally sound/confident, has extremely high ball drive, and stellar impulse control. He has been kennel kept, so he won’t be a dog that can have free rein in a home environment right from the start without first putting some work into it. 🔸Hunt drive is unprecedented and is a great candidate for any detection work. Working dog or pet dog, it’s so important to set aside time to just let your dog be a dog. In this video is a GSD x Belgian Malinois cross that is a working dog in training that was extremely reactive towards other dogs. He now enjoys running the fence with his shepherd buddy next door and with relaxed body language. But note, even when allowing him to do this (aka allowing him to just be a dog), you see he is still fully under control and is able to hear and comply with the commands I’m giving.

To get this level of control, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to always be fair, consistent, and very clear in terms of the commands and/or corrections you’re giving. Too many people have a black and white mindset. They either don’t allow their dog to just do dog type activities, or they give far too much freedom without having any control over their dog. It’s all about operating in the grey area and finding that happy medium.
