A muzzle can be an excellent management tool in these situations. If the dog makes an inappropriate choice or reaction, it provides us with another safe opportunity to work through the behavior and reinforce more appropriate responses.

Lola enjoyed her first walk in Middletown and did amazing. There were a few moments where she was a little unsure, but she worked through them quickly and ended up really enjoying the experience.

Early exposure is so important for young dogs—especially ones that will grow into larger, more powerful dogs. Building confidence in new environments now sets the foundation for a well-balanced, reliable companion later.

I currently offer three training programs to fit your needs:

• Private Lessons – We work together hands-on, including real-world training sessions out in town
• Day & Train – Your dog stays with me during the day for structured training and returns home after
• Board & Train – Your dog stays with “Uncle Nate” full-time until we reach your training goals

At first, Liberty and Patriot wanted nothing to do with the elevated dog bed. It had been sitting in the house for several weeks before I arrived, and they completely avoided it.

After a short training session and a few reps, everything changed. Using some simple negative and positive motivation, they quickly figured out that the elevated bed was a great place to be.

By the end of the session, we couldn’t get Liberty and Patriot off of it!

This is a great example of how a little guidance, structure, and making training fun can completely change a dog’s mindset about something new.

Falco is a young adult German Shepherd I recently took on from Four Legs Good Animal Shelter, and he’s now looking for the right home to continue thriving.

Falco is playful, energetic, and loves having a job to do. He currently has on and off leash obedience and is learning more every day. Like many working-breed dogs, he does best with clear boundaries, structure, and leadership.

Because of this, Falco would do best in a home with German Shepherd experience—someone who understands the breed and can continue providing the training, exercise, and guidance he needs.

When his needs are met, Falco is a fun, loyal companion who enjoys working, learning, and being part of a team.
