Lesson: voles? Yep, I’ve got them. They travel on the mole tunnels & love to munch on my tubers. What you can do: treat them. I use “Molemax” spray on the garden early spring & thru the year. This year I’m trying the granular /powder- putting a small handful in the holes. Product works by making the earthworms taste bad. Smells like castor oil. The moles stay away from the garden. WHAT to DO about eaten tubers? Carve away the bite - or cut the end of the tuber. Let dry. Then I sprinkle a bit of garden sulfur powder on the cut. Sorry little posting - Planting keeping me busy!!! Chateau de la Bourdeliere (sp?) This was a beautiful plant from a cutting last year. It’s all that it produced last fall. And yes…..I did plant it! There’s an eye🤞👩‍🌾

Foster a cat in need (Whatcom County, Wa)& get 25 free dahlia tubers OR a free weekly giant bucket of blooms Aug. & Sept💐

WFA was able to step in and help with this cat get somewhere safe! Networking saves lives!!

🚨 Emergency Foster Needed ASAP 🚨

We were just asked if we could help an 18-year-old who has lost her home after she and her mother were kicked out. In the middle of everything she’s facing, her cat now needs somewhere safe to go.

This sweet female cat is about 3–4 years old and not yet spayed, but we will take care of that. Right now, we urgently need someone who can either:

🐾 Hold her temporarily until we can secure a room for her owner
🐾 Sign up to foster and give her a safe place to stay

We also need to be honest — we just took in eight cats, and our waiting location is completely full. We truly do not have space to safely house another cat right now, so we really need community help.

This young girl is going through so much, and knowing her cat is safe would mean everything to her. If you can help, please reach out right away.

Please share so we can find this kitty a safe place quickly. ❤️

Tubers can come in many different sizes, some have more wrinkles than others, some might even be a little soft. They have been living out of their element (dirt) for 6 months. Let’s all lighten up & be realistic. Seems there’s a lot of new attitude about how they gotta look. As long as they grow that’s what is important. And….it should be what you ordered. This one pictured here will really be Peter Nelson. It will grow. The nicest compliment I got recently: you are the first seller that I’ve bought from where every dahlia grew true to the variety. You order Kelgai Ann. You get her. I’m very careful with my plant IDs!

Lesson time! Ever hear of “Genetically breaking down” well this is what it looks like. My Jeanie Leroux. Grew for 15 years, then she started popping her centers like this photo shows. Not ideal in the dahlia world. Started occasionally happening, then constantly. So in the trash she went.
