Y’all…it’s only morning and today is turning out to be one of those days…I don’t post stuff like this very often, but this has really gotten to me.

Owning a small business working with our neighbors in our local community is exhausting sometimes. We bend over backwards for people every single day, try to squeeze dogs in when we can, stay late, skip lunch, and do everything possible to help people out. Then one interaction can make you wonder why you even try.

This morning someone showed up 30 minutes late to their appointment without ever calling. We simply couldn’t take them because it would’ve put every other dog behind for the rest of the day. We offered the next appointment we had available, and instead of understanding, our groomer got the brunt of their anger. They stormed out, then came back in just to argue some more.

I know waiting for appointments is frustrating. Trust me, I hate telling people we don’t have room just as much as they hate hearing it. But we’re doing everything we can to take care of every dog that’s scheduled, and that means we have to respect everyone’s appointment time—not just one person’s.

My groomer doesn’t get paid enough to be someone’s punching bag. She works hard. She loves your dogs like they are her own. She cares, and she’s just trying to do her job.
I know it’s frustrating when we’re booked out. I know it’s disappointing when you miss an appointment. But please remember there’s a real person standing on the other side of that counter.

Some days owning a small business is really hard. Today was one of those days. Please just remember: A little kindness goes a long way.
