A few simple tips to ensure you are getting the best possible food for your pets

#1 - look for food grade/human grade foods (not feed grade which is what had failed inspection and cannot be used in food grade foods. Sadly, this is what makes up the majority of pet food formulas)

#2 - Rotate your food - rotate formulas, rotate through grain in and grain free - the more variety the better. This helps reduce pickiness, reduces the possibility of food sensitivities later in life and is far healthier overall. Besides, we don't eat the exact same thing day in day out month after month etc.

#3 - Add healthy fresh food to the bowl. Rotate, start small, keep a journal and have fun with it, try each new food at minimum of 3-5 times esp for those picky eaters. Even if you cannot feed an all fresh diet, adding some at each meal will be a huge positive step in helping your pet's be healthier. Avoiding foods that are not safe of course.

#4 - Add raw food/freeze dried food to the kibble to increase the overall value of the food. Feeding an all fresh/raw diet is best, but some cannot do so, so adding at least some raw food (and fresh food) will make a huge positive difference.

#5 - There are a lot of super foods that are not only safe for your pet's but also serve a specific purpose too! Be sure to rotate through these often.

I am honored to have met Oakley today - she is a bloodhound with the Jackson County Wisconsin Sheriff's Office - her handler is Deputy Joseph Haag (trail - tracking bloodhound). She loves her treats and stuffies! Such a beautiful sweet pup.
