We lost a very special boy today 😭
💔 Hershey 💔. Hershey came to us in October of 2024 at the age of 11. I knew that taking on a senior dog would mean less time together, but it was soooo worth it. He was the sweetest, most handsome boy with big ears and the funniest bark (more like a howl mixed with an elephant trumpet noise). Hershey was completely deaf so there was alot of hand gestures and chasing behind him to get his attention while on our walks. He loved life. He was the best snuggler during evening downtime in the Lodge. His heavy head cutting off circulation in my leg never mattered as he slept so peacefully. He was a best friend to Oreo which says alot as Oreo doesn't choose many to share her space or water dish with. There was something extra special about Hershey and she felt it, too. I will miss you terribly, Hershey. I love you buddy. Run free and happy with Leo over Rainbow bridge 💙 🐾

1 year ago today... 365 long days... I still fight back tears and miss you every day, Leo. You are the special boy that stole my heart with all your quirks and emotions! You were the sweetest and most loving boy when you let your armour shell down. 💔 Love you always buddy.

ADOPTED!!
Meet Doc! Doc is an 8 yr old neutered male Golden Retriever/Newfoundland mix and the biggest,sweetest cuddle bug - literally! He weighs 99 pounds and is up to date on shots and rabies vaccination. He would do best in a calm home with older kids/adults. He spends most of his time lounging in the shelter lobby as being with people is his #1 passion! Doc is a very special boy and he will steal your heart. Being a senior at the shelter totally sucks. Please spread the word and help me get him a new home! Call 715-896-2064 for more information.

Had the cutest holiday weekend visitor! Baby wasn't quite sure what to think about her pup cup at first 🤩 We had a long walk today and then took some downtime to catch up on paperwork. What a sweetheart! She had fun visiting but I know she will be super happy to see her mama this evening 💗

Miles came to visit with his very special human! It was absolutely AMAZING to see his transformation. He now goes by the name "Max", loves truck rides, fishing, and has become friendly with dogs of all kinds while enjoying the parks with his family. What a great outcome for this special boy.

This adorable guy is waiting for his forever home. Meet Miles! Miles is a 60 lb intact 3yr old male mixed breed pup. He lost his human due to hard financial times that forced his surrender to the Jackson County Animal Shelter-Wisconsin. He is a very happy and friendly boy to humans of all kinds. His kryptonite is other male dogs and most cats. Kids are best over 12yrs old as Mile's has energy that may be too much for small humans!

Miles is housebroken and is a great snuggler. Please help this boy get out of the shelter SOON! Contact JCAS at 715-284-0251.

Oreo sat so politely in the car while waiting for her pup cup!

A happy update on Oreo: Oreo's original owner had to surrender her due to medical issues about 2-1/2 years ago. Since, he has gotten well and had reached out to the shelter to ask about Oreo. He was extatic to hear she was at Leo's and doing well! Now, Oreo visits her "Dad" on a daily basis. They take long walks, she plays in the river, meets new people, goes for rides to special places, and gets tons of love! Her owner is working toward taking her full time. What a wonderful opportunity for them both 💗

This handsome boy is Bash (Sebastian). He is a 7 yr old neutered male Alaskan Malamute/Husky mix. Bash has had no interest at our Animal Shelter which is CRAZY! Bash is an incredible dog. The shelter is crowded and adoptions are few and far between. Please share Bash's story - he is patiently waiting and hoping for a loving family to live out his last years with! Bash has had a few years of doggy training and it shows in his calm and happy personality. He knows tricks, kennels up perfectly, is housebroken, and loves to walk on leash/harness. Oooh Luna! You silly girl! Luna loves her toys and is a very active and curious girl who will be coming up on her 4th birthday. Luna is a purebred German Shepherd female who is up to date on vaccines and her rabies certificate. We are waiting for an appointment to get Miss Luna spayed and ready for adoption!

COPPER HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! YAY!

Meet Copper! A 2yr old red bone/red heeler. Copper is neutered and up to date on all vaccines and his rabies certificate. Copper weighs 53 lbs and knows many commands like sit, shake, speak, down, roll over. He gets along with other dogs and loves to play outside! His previous owners took him on camping trips, riding in the truck and on the 4-wheeler. He was a great companion and family pup. A home with children over 12 years old or younger children with good animal friendly manners would be best for Copper. A meet and greet is is welcomed. You will not be disappointed!
