Attention customers:
We want you to be aware that there has been a K-9 Cough/K-9 Upper Respiratory Complex outbreak in Jackson, Monroe and La Crosse counties. We want to be honest and transparent with all of our customers. Unfortunately, there was a dog that unknowingly was exposed to the virus prior to their stay here at the Lodge. Since then, we have had a few confirmed cases at the Lodge.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What should you do if your pet has recently boarded?
Keep a close eye on your pet and watch for any symptoms. It typically takes 3-10 days after exposure for your pet to show symptoms. These symptoms may include a dry/hacking cough, sneezing, loss of appetite or lethargy.
What should you do if your pet begins showing symptoms?
Contact your vet and they will help you determine what to do next. Please contact the facility at which your pet was boarded and/or groomed at to help stop the spread of the virus.
What should you do if you have an upcoming reservation?
Talk to your vet and ask if they feel it is wise to board your pet. This is your decision to make and we completely understand if you do not want to put your pet at risk.
What are we doing to prevent the spread here at the Lodge?
Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning! We have very high standards when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing. We are changing our air filters even more frequently, following vaccination protocol and keeping distance between the dogs that are boarding. We have a specially designed air filtration system that provides 10 fresh air exchanges per hour. We are taking all necessary precautions to prevent spreading this illness but we can not promise that your pet will not get sick. We are contacting all customers with upcoming reservations to let them know and give them the chance to make the decision regarding their reservation.
What can you do to help prevent the spread?
If your pet is showing any symptoms at all, please keep them at home and avoid contact with other dogs for 10-14 days after their last symptom. Make sure your pet is up-to-date with their Bordetella vaccination.
My pet is up-to-date, so they won’t get it, right?
False. Even if your pet’s Bordetella vaccination is current, they may still be at risk. While it may not always be 100% effective, this vaccine is still the best protection available and could lessen the severity of any symptoms. Having your dog’s Bordetella vaccination up-to-date is important because it will protect your dog against the most common strains.
Please let us know if you have any questions at all regarding K-9 Cough/K-9 Upper Respiratory Complex and we will do our best to answer your questions.
Thank you for being loyal customers and for your understanding!
