I have been a member of the CART team off and on for several years. Due to the current weather conditions (and July 4th pyros) and the distance I’d need to be away from Fawnwood, I have not yet volunteered at the shelter for the Aspen Acres fire. I’m hopeful there will be no need for us next week, but that’s seeming less and less likely— if weather gives Black Forest a little more wiggle-room and I feel a little less trepidations about leaving Fawnwood I’ll head down.
IF YOU WANT TO HELP:
The group caring for livestock at the Pueblo Fairgrounds (I think it’s the Pueblo CART team—I heard they have over 800 animals!) is asking for volunteers— I haven’t checked what the qualifications are but I think at this point probably “able-bodied” is probably it.
The CS CART Team is managing the domestic pets shelter— i heard over 60 dogs and cats— again I’m not sure what training requirements are, check the link below.
Of COURSE in these situations donations are welcome!!
Below is a link to the Humane Society with info about all the things mentioned sbove.
We at Fawnwood are keenly aware that “there but for god go we” and that we’re always juat one bottle rocket away from being the folks needing the shelter instead of the folks supporting it.
Thanks for reading, and everyone please have a SAFE and happy July Fourth!
Make a plan now for evacuating and taking care of pets in the event of a disaster – animals need emergency supplies, too!
