It is with a very heavy heart that the Black Top Ranch family shares the passing of our beloved Dr. Robert J Herman.

As many of you know, Robie had been facing a tremendous battle with cancer for the past 14 months. He fought proudly with tenacity, grace and courage, continuing to show the excellent character we all came to know so well. On Thursday, the good Lord called him home while he was surrounded by his loving, devoted family.

Robie’s legacy will live on through the many people he impacted during his remarkable life, especially his family, which he treasured above anything else. The Herman Family led by Robie has already amassed 10 AQHA world championships, and more than 30 Championships in APHA and PtHA, as well as, many WCHA championships. Robie was not only a great father, husband, friend, orthodontist and boss, but was also a top notch horseman. He will be dearly missed and remembered.

Please keep the Herman family in your thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.

“Bear” was the horse that brought us to the dance- brought me back to the sport I loved as a kid, brought my children into the horseshow world and delivered them championships!

He was true, and dedicated, and a PROFESSIONAL show horse in anything he ever did!

He was known all around- every show we ever brought him to- people recognized him!

Only fitting he is the Cover of this month’s Instride Edition
