GRANTSVILLE — For some, the number of homeless and unaltered community cats in Garrett and Allegany counties remains a growing concern, but one new local nonprofit is making measurable progress.

We are going to limit further bookings for this upcoming month. All current bookings are fine and we can still do some check in visits. Our beloved coonhound, Fern, had to go to the emergency hospital out in fairmont last night. We rushed him back to his regular vet today for more X-rays and testing and he’s scheduled for an ultrasound this upcoming week. He seems to be having pretty significant lower back pain and his X-rays look a bit concerning but we’ll know more this upcoming week. We just need to make sure we have the availability to get him to the vet and keep a close eye on him. We’re so worried about our old man.

After debating on this decision for the past couple months, we have decided to not offer boarding in our home moving forward with the exception of a handful of established clients with dogs who are very cat friendly (when space allows). As many of you probably know, I started my own nonprofit cat rescue earlier this year. We now use most of our space for fostering friendly cats and kittens. Our work schedule is already slammed busy with check in visits and overnight stays on a daily basis and I simply do not feel that I am home enough to offer the boarding service as well. Once our kitten season winds down, we may reconsider this decision but I think this will be the best for us right now. There are wonderful boarding facilities in the area we’d be happy to refer you to.

Also, want to note that all current bookings through end of 2026 are not affected at all! But just not taking on new clients for boarding at this time.

Hi everyone! We’ve been getting a lot of “appointment requests” on this page lately but Facebook doesn’t allow us to view any details regarding the “requests” that are sent. Please just send us a message with your needs rather than booking a request. I’m trying to figure out how to turn that feature off 😅

We unexpectedly said goodbye to our foster kitten, Hope, this morning. When we found her two days ago, she was already in bad condition. We got her to the vet immediately and syringe fed her the last two days but her body gave up on us this morning 💔

Another kitten rescue near us in Grantsville today. Please help us get community cats fixed so this stops happening. This suffering needs to end
