Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing moms! Today we are celebrating our very own Shelly Brown- the woman who has held Brown’s Ranch together since day one.
Shelly doesn’t like to be the center of attention and is more of a behind-the-scenes kind of gal. But those who are behind the scenes also deserve some recognition so Shelly, please don’t kill me for sharing this!!
She was born and raised on the very ground that we still manage and own to this day.
Growing up in SoCal and having lived in many different places before settling in North Dakota, I think it’s such a cool experience to have lived in the same place all your life.
I still have a lot to learn about being a proper farm wife, lol, but I do have to say I’ve come quite a long way from never having cooked a piece of meat in my life, nor shoveled snow out of a driveway!
I’m grateful that Shelly has shown me her ways for many things that are unique to living on a farm and in a house that was built in the 1960’s.
Boy would I be lost without her!
Over the years she has done the books, managed the garden and canning projects, washed over 1 million eggs in her lifetime [she is a pro- holds the record for fastest time cleaning a basket of eggs on the ranch!], and has always been the best at keeping things clean and tidy. If there is something that needs to be organized- she is the woman for the job!
Not to mention raising my husband to be the outstanding man that he is💕. That is worth a huge thank you in and of itself.
I’m so grateful for everything she does and I couldn’t ask for a better Mother-in-Law!
In honor of Mothers day, I did some digging in the Brown family scrapbooks and found some hidden gems from back in the day. It took a while to find some pictures of Shelly because, once again, she doesn’t like being the center of attention. But I just have to share a few of these photos from when Paul and his sister, Kelly, were younger!
