Another Success Story!

Finn is an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy whose family loves him to pieces, but they were finding it hard to keep up with his endless energy. Finn was struggling with a few common puppy-at-heart behaviors:

- Impulse control issues - (lots of jumping on people)
- Playing a bit too rough with the kids
- Destructive chewing on things he shouldn't

His family reached out because they wanted to learn how to better communicate with him and create a calmer, safer environment for everyone.

Ultimate Goals were:

- Building strong impulse control
- Teaching polite around-guest manners (goodbyes to jumping!)
- Channeling his energy away from rough play and into positive focus
- Eliminating aggressive chewing on household items

Finn has so much love to give. 3 sessions later, and with the right structure and communication tools, he’s well on his way to becoming the ultimate well-behaved family companion. Props to Finn and family for getting it done!

Actualization reframes the entire purpose of the Three Dimensional Dog Unified Theory. We are not only training dogs to perform commands. We are parenting dogs toward a state of permanent emotional security — a life in which they never have to question whether they are safe, whether they belong, or whether they have value.

Does your dog only make certain assumptions when specific family members are present? Meaning does your dog assume permissions with one person but wait for explicit authorization from another? If so, this is a strong Family Stock indicator.

For us, family stock means the number of 'shares' you hold in the family organization, just like holding stock in a company.

Like most behavior issues, these assumptions are not a training problem. Instead, they track back to family social dynamics.

This dynamic shows that your dog perceives differential authority in parents and so they exploit loopholes with those specific family members only.

This connects to a dog's exquisite memory, and their having memorized all the parenting and leadership values of each individual member of the family.

So, next time you see this dynamic at play, remember, it's not your dog's lack of memory or poor training that leads to certain decisions at certain times. It is precisely their exploitation of loopholes found after a complex auditing process of your parental values.

This is reason #427 that we are "parent trainers" more than dog trainers.

When a dog jumps, pulls, play-bites, or blocks, the dog is asking: "Who is parenting right now? Is anyone actually in charge? Are you paying attention? Can you hold ground?" The behaviors themselves are healthy and developmentally appropriate. They are part of how dogs naturally organize social structure.

The problem isn't that the dog asks the question. The problem is when the parent doesn't answer it.

Emotional manipulations are the test of the dog parent's emotional stability and self-knowledge. They probe whether the parent's feelings can be hijacked to change their decisions. This is where the deepest cases live — and where most parents have no defense because they don't even know they're being managed by their dog.

Yeah, we busted a move. Saturday's 2nd Annual BarkBash 2026 benefiting Hand in Paw was an absolute blast.

Together, we raised funds for Hand in Paw and their therapy dog teams who bring hope and healing to so many. YOU made that possible. 🐾❤️
