Freya 3yr Siberian Husky. Will be ready for Adoption the end of April 25th 2025 after she has raised her puppies and is spayed. She is great with kids and other dogs have not tested her with cats yet.

Volunteers Needed – Make a Life-Changing Impact at HHP

At shelters like HHP, volunteers aren’t just appreciated — they’re essential. Volunteering truly makes a world of difference for the animals in our care. Spending time with them helps reduce stress and allows their true personalities to shine, significantly increasing their chances of finding a forever home.

Curious about volunteering but not sure where to start? Here are a few simple, meaningful ways to help:

🐾 Dog Walkers
Our dogs often spend nearly 24 hours a day in their kennels. They need a break — fresh air, exercise, and, of course, cuddles. Whether you walk one dog or twenty, you’ll give them a much-needed chance to move, sniff, and decompress. Just show up at the shelter, and we’ll get you started!

🚗 Doggie Outings
Feeling adventurous? Take a pup (or two) out for the day! Many of our dogs never leave the shelter unless they’re adopted. A trip to a trail, PetSmart, Shipton’s, or even just a car ride makes a huge difference. These outings help with socialization and give them valuable exposure — both of which boost their chances of adoption.

🐶 Cuddle Time
Not up for walking or outings? That’s okay! Simply sitting with a dog, cat, or other shelter animal and giving them one-on-one attention can be just as powerful. A few minutes of quiet companionship can completely brighten their day.

🏡 Fostering
We’re always in need of fosters — both short-term and long-term. Fostering helps us make room for more animals in need and gives pets a chance to adjust to home life before adoption. If you have space in your home and heart, fostering could be the perfect way to make an impact.

Volunteering saves lives.

🏡 Available for Adoption – Meet Rain Beau! 🐾

Rain Beau is one of our longest-standing residents at Help for Homeless Pets — though fortunately, he’s been enjoying the comfort of a loving foster home for most of that time. Now, he’s more than ready to find his forever family!

We may not know much about Rain Beau’s past, but here’s what we do know:

He’s crate-trained
He loves being brushed
He’s a big fan of playing fetch
And once he’s comfortable, he’s incredibly affectionate
While he was a bit reserved in the kennel, Rain Beau has truly blossomed in a home environment. He's proven to be a sweet, loyal companion who wants to be loved. He still needs some work on leash walking, as he tends to pull — but with some patience and guidance, he'll be a great walking buddy in no time.

Rain Beau is neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Meet Odie!

Odie arrived at the shelter in heartbreaking condition (some of you may remember his earlier post)—severely emaciated and suffering from mange. You might be surprised to learn that he was actually an owner surrender. He had lived in an apartment, quickly outgrowing the space, and for reasons only Odie could truly tell, he ended up in poor shape despite having had a home.
He also has some hip issues that doesn't require surgery, at least not yet according to the vet. He does take an anti inflammatory/pain medication when he shows signs of discomfort. He will need someone who can establish with a vet to continue his care. We will definitely send you what he needs until then.

According to his previous owner, Odie lived with cats and is friendly with other dogs. He loves to tussle with his shelter buddies! However, he is very food-driven and can become protective over his meals/treats, so his future family will need to separate him during feeding times to ensure a stress-free environment. Because of Odie's size older children would be best around him.

With his playful yet wise soul, Odie has already experienced so much in his short life—hard to believe he’s only one year old! He has been in and out of the shelter for months now, patiently waiting for the loving home he deserves.

Odie is up to date on vaccinations and neutered. His adoption fee is $200
