Long workdays can leave your dog bored, lonely, and full of pent-up energy.

That often leads to unwanted behaviors like excessive barking, chewing, digging, or getting into things they shouldn't. It's not because they're being "bad", they're just looking for something to do.

As temperatures rise, so does the temperature of concrete, asphalt, and other outdoor surfaces.

If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws. On sunny days, pavement can become much hotter than the air temperature and can quickly cause burns and discomfort.

Before heading out for a walk, test the surface with the back of your hand for a few seconds. When possible, stick to grassy areas, walk during cooler parts of the day, and make sure your pup has plenty of water.

For extra protection, consider using dog booties or a paw protection balm to help shield sensitive paw pads from hot surfaces.

A little extra caution can go a long way!
