The critters and staff at the Inyo County Animal Shelter would like to say a huge thank you to the Big Pine Unified Schools for their recent Better Earth donation drive to benefit our animals who are awaiting adoption.

The donation efforts of the students paid off! We loved seeing the student-created posters promoting the donation drive posted around local businesses and the donations started pouring in.
In the end, we received 987 pounds of litter, 524 cans of food, 88 boxes of deodorizer, 5 bags of food, and piles of leashes, toys, pet beds, blankets, and more!

Thank you Big Pine students, staff, and community! We so very much appreciate you!

Riley made an appearance at the Board of Supervisors meeting yesterday as Pet of the Month. She put her best manners and polite requests for belly rubs on full display and charmed the room as we knew she would! Unfortunately for anyone tuning into the meeting online, the camera angle didn't catch any of Riley. Unless you were in the room, you might think we were advertising an invisible dog.

But Riley has far too much personality to be invisible, so we're putting her back in the spotlight today! Riley is the sweetest of girls with a love for life and walks. Riley is approximately 6 years old, spayed, and ready to be someone's best buddy.

She's a great size, big enough to handle any adventure and small enough to easily load up in the car and go anywhere you care to take her. She's along for the ride!

Come down and check out Riley and her other dog pals! You won't regret it!

The Community Cat Program (CCP) by Inyo County Animal Shelter offers free sterilization and Rabies vaccination of stray and feral cats in Inyo County.
The CCP started in late March and it has helped to fix 14 cats so far! The program was made possible by a $3000 grant awarded to the shelter by Best Friends Animal Society . We dedicated $2000 from our general fund and Bishop Veterinary Hospital gracefully offered to take animals Monday through Friday without appointments. Funds are limited but we hope to be able to financially support this program well into 2026.

Please call the shelter to get information and approval. - You will need prior approval to be able to drop animals off at the Vet.
- You will be turned away without approval.
- You will have to release animals back to their place of capture.

We are very grateful to all community members that support this trap-neuter-vaccinate-release initiative (TNVR) on their own time.
Help us to end the cycle of pet homelessness and overpopulation in Inyo County by donating to our cause 🧡
