Exercising with your dog is a great way to bond with them and crucial to keeping them as healthy as possible. 🐶Walking the same old route around the block can begin to get a little boring. If you are ready to spice up your normal routine, check out these ideas to mix it up this year!

🐾 Replace the walk with an exciting game of fetch! Fetch is a fun way to interact with your dog while they get exercise and engage their brain. For a little extra exercise, roll the ball down the stairs and have them return it to you at the top of the stairs.
🐕 Play a little game of hide and seek! Tell your dog to “stay” in a room, then go hide from them and prompt them to find you with the “come” command.
🐩 Take them swimming! If your dog enjoys a good dip in the water, letting them swim is a great way for them to get some exercise.
🐶 Bring your dog to daycare at LCA!

What are some fun ways you like to exercise your dog?

Is your dog a fetch fiend? 🎾🐶

It’s the natural instinct of many dogs to chase after and retrieve balls. Even if your dog isn’t a typical retrieving or hunting breed, they likely still find joy in a good game of fetch. For many dogs, it is almost an obsession! If your dog has no desire to engage in a game of fetch, not to worry. The genetic makeup and personality of each individual dog will make up whether they will be hyper focused on playing fetch for hours. 🐾

Playing with your dog is not only amazing for their physical health, it also engages and stimulates their mental well-being! If you have ever gone for a good, long run, you may be familiar with a “runner’s high” that is caused by a release of happy chemicals. During exercise like fetch, studies show your dog experiences the same feeling!

Dogs love getting your undivided attention, so grab a tennis ball and take your furry pal out for a fun game of fetch! 💙

If ringing in the new year has you feeling a bit drowsy today, kick back and enjoy some calm music! 🎶 Relaxing while listening to your favorite music is a great way to unwind. Humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy the world of music.

People have seen great, calming effects on their dog from playing certain genres of music. Which music is the best to help calm your pup? How can you know which musical artists are your pup’s favorite? 🐶 It may come as no surprise that classical music tends to leave dogs feeling calm and relaxed but putting on some reggae or slow tempo classical rock may also do the trick.

There is still a lot to learn about the impact of music on dogs. Studies done on the human brain show that listening to classical music aids in lowering the stress hormones in our brains! Many scientists deduce that a similar impact occurs within a dog’s brain while hearing those classical instrumentals.

If your dog gets a little anxious when left alone, consider playing some Mozart or Beethoven to help them sit back and relax. Does your Loyal Canine love listening to music?

How do you know if LCA Doggie Bootcamp is the right choice for your pup? 🤔
We know each dog is unique and has different needs. Doggie boot camp is not a one size fits all program. Our trainers will tailor the experience to meet the needs of your dog, specifically.

Time frames range from two to four weeks long. Follow the link in our bio for a deeper explanation of each program and give us a call to begin the process! 🐕

Your dog is a star at BootCamp, but what comes after? Next it will be your turn. As an owner, it will be important for you to master your dog’s newly honed training commands to implement them into your dog’s daily at home life. Each week, you will work side by side with our trainer to teach you “handler skills” to ensure success.

We look forward to working with you and your dog!

We are so thrilled to have your dog join the LCA pack for daycare. Before fido comes to hang out, you will need to schedule them for a temperament test. 💙

Temperament tests are designed to assess each dog’s behavioral state. During the temperament test, we will evaluate factors such as sociability, environmental reactivity, and aggressive tendencies. These factors will determine whether a dog will fit within our program. Safety is an utmost concern, and we want to ensure that with each new friend that we welcome into our daycare, our standards of safety are upheld. 🐶 If a dog is identified as a potential risk to join our play groups, we have training programs available to address many behavioral issues.

Once your dog gets the green light to join us for daycare, our staff trainers conduct obedience training and behavior modification exercises to ensure daycare is a safe and fun environment.

Give us a call to get your dog’s temperament evaluation scheduled!

Did the holidays leave you feeling exhausted? Time to take a note for the dogs in our lives and take a rest! All dogs sleep quite a bit, but the real sleeping champions are puppies! 🐶

If Santa brought a puppy into your house this year, here are some sleeping schedule tips to keep in mind!

💤 Do your best to resist the urge to cuddle them through each nap. This is an important factor in ensuring they won’t become dependent on you to fall asleep.
💤 Stay aware of their need to rest. Playing with a puppy is so much fun but keeping them awake and letting them get overtired can cause them to misbehave. We all get a bit grumpy when we are sleep deprived, right?
💤 Designate a sleeping area for your pup. It’s true that puppies can fall asleep seemingly anywhere, but it’s important to encourage them to sleep in safe spaces like their crate or a dog bed.

This sleepy stage of puppyhood won’t last forever, so enjoy it and encourage healthy sleeping habits while you can. Want to learn more about taking care of your new furever friend? Visit our site to learn about our puppy training classes!

Tomorrow is the big day! 🎅

The holidays often bring house guests throughout the day. Having guests is amazing but a little stressful if your dog has a bad habit of barking at every guest! We have some tips to help you and your dog skip the stress!

🌲Give your dog a new task! Redirect your dog with another task such as fetch.
🐶 Break your dog’s focus on the door with a loud noise.
🌲 Work on desensitizing your dog in preparation.
🐶 Exercise your dog in advance. If a dog is storing up plenty of pent-up energy, barking at the door will be a welcomed opportunity to get some energy out.
🌲 Teach your dog the “quiet” command. This one can be a bit tricky, but we believe in you!

If you’re ready to leave the “bad boy” behavior in 2021, give us a call to learn about Doggie Bootcamp here at Loyal Canine Academy. We are here to help your dog become the well behaved pup we know they can be!

With a winter chill in their air, it can be easy to want to stay inside where it’s warm and cozy. Your dog, however, still needs to get their energy out to maintain their happy, healthy lifestyle, as well as their healthy weight! 🐶

❄️ Play a little game of hide and seek! Practice your dog’s “wait” command and hide from them then use their release command and see how long it takes for them to find you!
❄️ Hide treats! This will be a great mental exercise as they use their nose to find where you’ve hidden them. There are also great toys on the market for interactive snacking!
❄️ If you’re worried about not being able to get in that afternoon walk afterwork, drop your pup off at doggy daycare while you are at the office! Knowing your pup gets some play time with their friends, you can sit back and enjoy an afternoon of relaxing with them guilt free!

LCA is here to help you and your pup shake off the winter blues together. Visit our website or give us a call today to learn more!

While there are general rules of thumb and guidelines for training a dog, every dog is unique so they require customized training to ensure their specific needs are addressed. 🐶 That is why we created our Doggie Bootcamp.

At our Doggie Bootcamp, your dog will get one on one sessions with our trainer. During these sessions, our trainers will get to know your dog to learn their strengths, weaknesses, and needs from training. From there, our trainers will curate custom training plans based on your dog’s specific needs.

Bootcamp will also address specific behavioral issues you, as an owner, want to have addressed with your dog. 🐕 There will be scheduled times for you to come and work with your dog alongside the trainer to ensure you are able to take all the amazing skills that your dog learns and implement them into your daily life after Bootcamp.

Want to learn more about LCA’s Doggie Bootcamp? Give us a call today to learn more about Bootcamp and the other awesome classes we offer.
