One of the most heartbreaking cases we’ve ever worked with. Grateful to Dr. Rodriguez, Dr Alvarado and the large animal team who worked countless hours to help stabilize these babies. They are finally free and can look forward to a much better life. ❤️‍🩹

🐱 Diabetes in Cats: Know the Signs, Get Help Early

Diabetes can affect cats too, but with early diagnosis and proper care, many cats can do very well.

Signs to look for:

Drinking more water than usual
Urinating more often
Weight loss despite a good appetite
Increased hunger
Tiredness or less activity
Weakness in the back legs
Diagnosis may include:

Physical exam
Bloodwork
Urine testing
Blood glucose monitoring
Treatment often involves:

Insulin therapy
A diet recommended by your veterinarian
Weight management
Regular feeding and monitoring routines
Why veterinary monitoring matters:

Helps make sure treatment is working
Reduces the risk of complications
Allows safe insulin adjustments
Supports long-term quality of life
If you notice any of these signs, contact your veterinarian. Early care can make a big difference. 💙🐾

🐰 Domestic Rabbit Care: What Every Bunny Parent Should Know 🐰
Domestic rabbits are intelligent, social animals that can live 8–12 years or longer with proper care. They thrive on a healthy diet, clean living spaces, exercise, and regular veterinary care.
✨ Basic Rabbit Care Tips
• Unlimited hay should make up most of their diet
• Fresh water daily
• Safe vegetables and limited pellets
• Plenty of space to hop and exercise
• Mental stimulation and social interaction
• Clean litter and enclosure regularly
⚠️ Common Rabbit Illnesses & Warning Signs
Rabbits often hide illness, so subtle changes matter.
Common concerns include:
• GI stasis – reduced appetite, small/no droppings, lethargy
• Dental disease – drooling, difficulty eating, weight loss
• Respiratory infections (“snuffles”) – sneezing, nasal discharge, noisy breathing
• Parasites or ear mites – scratching, head shaking, crusty ears
• Heat stress – panting, weakness, drooling
• Urinary issues – straining, blood in urine, frequent urination
🚨 Seek veterinary care immediately if your rabbit stops eating, becomes lethargic, has trouble breathing, or shows sudden behavior changes. Rabbits can decline very quickly when ill.
🩺 Annual wellness exams with an experienced exotic animal veterinarian are strongly recommended, even for healthy rabbits. Early detection can save lives and improve quality of life.
Healthy rabbits are happy rabbits ❤️🐇
