Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue

We are a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation dedicated to saving dogs from high-kill shelters. This ultimately grew into the non-profit Ace of Hearts.

Kari Whitman founded her non-profit Ace of Hearts in 2001 after her amazing American Bulldog "Ace" passed away. She had rescued Ace from death row at a shelter in 1990 and was immediately smitten! When he died, she channeled her grief and frustration into trying to save other shelter dogs like Ace and finding them loving homes.

Meet Duck! 🦆 We first helped rescued him earlier on the day of his euthanasia. His current foster can no longer foster him at the end of the month, we NEED your HELP! 🫵

If you are looking for someone who has a lot of love to give, a sweet cuddle bug, and loves family adventures: he is your guy! ❤️

📣 He adores people and gets along well with kids! He is not aggressive at all, his current fosters remark he is very sweet and gets along well. He does have some trouble when seeing other male dogs on walks, but he is not aggressive and after redirecting his attention, he is back to his jolly spirits. We hope you understand.

Bongo was left at the shelter to die. We rescued him in the knick of time and renamed him to Gus for his playful personality. 💛

He is very adoptable but has some cherry eyes that we’d like to help him get fixed. Cherry eye surgeries cost upwards of $3500 but are so essential to the dogs living comfortable lives! 🐾📦

✨Just another prince looking for his fairytale ending! 👑🐶
Cooper is polite little fellow, full of personality with a lot of love to give!

He’s playful, affectionate, and adores head pats. With his loving charm and adventurous heart, Cooper is the dog that makes you smile everyday. Cooper adores the Duck channel on YouTube almost as much as he loves a good Bully Stick!

His last owners were gave him up amidst their tense relationship woes. So Cooper is looking for his second forever home. We can’t imagine anyone giving up this sweet little guy!

Cooper is family-friendly, kid-loving, and absolutely ready to bring laughter into the right home.

Adopt our Sonny boy! ☀️🐶
Sonny is a cheerful little fellow who has overcome a lot to get where he is today.

He’s playful, affectionate, and adores belly rubs. With his goofy charm and adventurous heart, Sonny is the dog to make every day brighter.

His journey hasn’t been the easiest. Sonny was rescued from a high-kill shelter earlier this year with cherry eye.

Sonny is dog and cat friendly, people-loving, and absolutely ready to bring sunshine and rainbows into the right home.

Our precious girl Freya was taken into surgery on Monday for TWO broken hind legs and a dislocated hip. Thousands of dollars later and she is finally on the mend! ❤️‍🩹

We are so happy that she is on the road to recovery and finding her forever home but we are reeling from these costs! Our credit card is MAXED OUT😩

As rescues, we take on all of the costs and dogs that shelters would euthanize for.
