Bears! I receive several calls about bears every week. I would like to share that while I am happy to provide advice about dealing with nuisance bears, their control ultimately falls under the purview of DEEP. The only exception is when a human, pet, or livestock sustains a bite from a bear. In such a case please make sure that I am notified. I will post the link to the DEEP website that lists all of their resources, including a form for reporting bear encounters, in the first comment.

A cat was found seemingly abandoned around 6:45pm tonight on Munger lane in the parking lot of the playground at March Farms. We are seeking the public’s help in identifying the operator of a white Subaru legacy that was seen abruptly leaving the area. The cat is not microchipped but is healthy and very friendly. Anyone with information about this cat or vehicle is encouraged to call us at 203-233-1137. We are not seeking adoption applications at this time.

Just a friendly reminder that I do not actively monitor Facebook minute to minute for Animal Control related issues. The best way to contact me is via a phone call or text message. I think what happens is when a number of people see an issue (such as a roaming dog)they all assume that someone else has already contacted me. Getting me timely and detailed information directly to my phone helps in all of my job functions.

Our number is easily found on the Town website. I have learned not to post the animal control phone number in Facebook posts because then I get a rash of spam l/scam callers.
