Posie the black lab mix baby is all puppy, all s***k, and all a big bundle of puppy love!

As is fitting her intelligent breed, she is a quick learner and is doing very well in her crate training and housebreaking lessons! Pretty sharp for 8 weeks old!

She would love another canine pal in the house, as well as an active family that can keep up with her "Blabby" energy!

The plans we thought we'd have this weekend 🏞️🌊⛵🛟🏊🏼‍♀️🥽

Starr the river otter 🦦 (cleverly disguised as a one-blue-eyed German Shepherd puppy) is patiently watching those levels rise and waiting for her chance to get back out in the water!

Starr is an amazing pup and we are so hopeful for her perfect home - one that is patient, has another canine sibling, will celebrate her slow and steady victories, and likes to spend time on any type of sea or shore!

She is naturally quiet, calm, and sweet - an ideal plus-one for your summer adventures!

We would be nothing without the mothers of Road Trip Rescues:

💐 The mothers who welcome home our adoptable dogs, who have never known love before, to now become part of summer vacations and Christmas mornings and rainy days snuggled on the couch

💐 The mothers who seamlessly work our foster dogs into the folds of their families and households to give them the best chance for finding a forever home

💐 The mothers who juggle jobs and sacrifice time with their own families for vet runs, supply pickups, meet and greets, and so many other things that are tasked upon our volunteers

Beagles have a reputation for being loud with their mouths, but real hound people know: a beagle's eyes speak louder 👀🤣

And Molly here is a perfect example where Resting Beagle Face is volumes above anything she may AROOOO about!

A quiet, good-natured companion, Molly is at perfect age where she's cleared the beagle puppy stage (🦖🦖) and now is enjoying the bliss of her young adult domestic life.

She is a champion snoozer, an easy walker, and takes changes in stride - perhaps just stopping to sniff the roses once in a while.

There's a reason beagles are consistently ranked as a top family dog - and you need look no further for proof than from our own pack of adopters!

It's National Beagle Day!

And while these merry little hounds aren't the only dogs we deal in; our history is chock full of Snoopy's in all colors, shapes and sizes - and the breed is a personal favorite of our director and a brave few of our volunteers!

While the beagle vocal power, ears solely for decoration, and "self-preserving" (a.k.a. stubborn) personalities aren't for the weak - they make up for their DNA with tremendous love, loyalty and affection!

We often receive hounds in need due to being overbred for hunting; discarded if they don't perform (or worse) - and you may have seen recent coverage of beagles and their use in laboratory settings for pharmaceutical and medical testing. However they end up with us, they go on to become beloved and adored members of families who are constantly entertained by their antics!

Happy Birthday to the one and only "Doc" Tara Kunkle who is responsible for all of the veterinary efforts that deliver happy and healthy pups to your home: from minor fine-tuning, to full-on lifesaving measures. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and a doting dog and cat mom herself - giving all RTR pups the best of veterinary care we could ever hope for before they begin their adoption journeys.

In addition to caring for our dogs, Doc Tara is also the veterinarian overseeing the programs at Forgotten Felines and Fidos including cat and dog spay/neuter, vaccination, and T-N-R clinics. Off the clock, she is a constant sounding board helping all of us navigate pet parenthood through the good times, the bad times, and downright devastating. Both organizations would be lost without her!

In honor of Doc's birthday, if she has played a part in bringing a healthy pooch or kitty into your family; please consider making a donation towards her much-needed veterinary support at either organization! And tell us if you're donating Team DOG (RTR) or Team CAT (FFF)! Better yet, share a pic in the comments of your Doc-tored pet!
