An Amphibian Emergency...

Dear AF Community,

Earlier this year, and simultaneous with the mass firings of our amphibian conservation partners nationwide, we learned that the city of Atlanta will be demolishing our building in 2026. It has been a difficult and stressful 2025 for AF, and I have some great news, and some not-great news about our future as an organization.

Last night at the inaugural meeting of the Master Herpetologist network, I gave a presentation titled “The Future of AF”. It will be uploaded shortly for viewing.

The main points of the discussion were:

-Our building will be demolished in 2026, and we need to identify a new location (or locations) for 7 labs and over 1,000 animals, many of which are endangered and part of critical conservation programs.

-Since January, registrations to our courses and programs have dropped dramatically, and we are now significantly behind where we were this time last year. In response, we have started fundraising in the hopes that the amphibian-loving community can help us continue vital conservation work.

-Our first fundraising project is the AF Emergency Fund as the minimum cost estimates to move this many labs and animals safely is $50,000.

I am extremely optimistic we’ll get through this, though it’s a particularly terrifying time for AF. Please help.

I need some help and advice. When you guys go on my website and go to checkout, when you’re logged in, I’m having some customers having trouble accessing multiple options. Does it just put you guys into “shop.app” at checkout unless you checkout as a guest? Does that mean a lot of you cannot use PayPal? And then as for shipping speeds and services, I’m getting reports that not everyone can select faster speeds? I’m so confused on this. I’ve posted in the Shopify Reddit threads hoping to get some advice on to wether or not or I should disable Shop entirely (not Shopify, shop is an “app / channel” that utilizes a mini version of your store and exposes it to more people). It’s a very minor sales bump having shop enabled, but I feel like checkout is harder for people? Let me know your experiences on the website

I wanted to thank everyone who put in orders or got frogs yesterday. Things are still crazy. I’m at a show, absolutely exhausted. I am working as hard as I can to make this next chapter of FrogDaddy count. The road has been rough. Summer has been rougher. You guys know I’ve always been transparent with you all. I just wanted to get on here to say two things:
1. I appreciate everyone that checked in. I did get a lot of messages about people wanting frogs, but I got just as many asking if I was okay. The fact that you guys care that much really touches me and reminds me that what I’m doing matters. Sometimes I really lose hope, and things look bleak. Bad luck stacks up. But you guys help keep those emotions at bay. My employees, my wife, and my friends also remind me to keep it moving, even when things aren’t going well. You all have made the hard times a bit easier, and I really appreciate it.
2. The past week was a rough one (not to be a broken record lol, covered that in 1.). However, the good that came out of that week was some of the products I was able to get to the release stage. I tried my best, and I am still working on springtail kits, tadpole kit 2.0 and tadpole kit 3.0, as well as our supplementation blocks. Doing this with little to no money, almost no free time, and other constraints, has made this release feel much more cathartic. If you are feeling inclined, please take a quick peek at some of the new stuff we have. Like I said, I’m not finished, I have pics to upload, FAQs, descriptions, etc, but they’re there. They’re up.

3. Surprise. Haha. Next week I think I will be posting some custom rarer plant packages to help raise some more funds. Please stay tuned Tuesday for that. Monday will be a tough and long day, so I’m thinking Tuesday will be good to get some custom packages out.

It’s beginning! Reorganization in the main hall. It’s gonna be a tough one…
I am proud to say that I’ve finished the NIS (Nursery Inventory System) for FrogDaddy, so inventory is going to be a breeze now. About one more week and no more “let me check and I’ll get back to you”!
The FRIS (Frog Room Inventory System) is coming along now…I’ve slotted every main tank now, so we know where all of our groups are going to be! If anyone is curious of the layout I can post it later. Big changes are coming!
Chase is also coming next week and new products will be out soon dry goods wise. Mycology is going very well here with Josh Pharris so stay tuned for our amazing Fall Release!

Have you all been to the facility? A couple projects will be underway mid-July through September (our slow season).
We will be beginning our organization initiatives…which just means everyone here will be getting a work out. Yes, all of those are 18x18 or larger…and yes I’ll be moving most of them. We want to be able to show off our diversity in a cleaner and clearer way. Unfortunately we can’t redo all the enclosures (yet anyway), but at least we can start putting frogs where they go! Stay tuned for some updates! I am hoping to be mostly done by Nov 22 (our next meetup)!
I’m nervous and excited for the next wave of moves here, as it will mean disconnecting and reconnecting everything, as well as moving them all! Can’t wait for my employees to try and cut my head off (metaphorically I’m hoping)!

He’s been arrested!

Good morning, friends.
We wanted to share an important update. The individual responsible was arrested last night on an unrelated theft warrant. When we arrived, we saw my plants, including some that belonged to my grandmother. That brought a moment of peace amidst the chaos.
Unfortunately, law enforcement wouldn't allow me to take them home just yet. We're told we must go through the legal process, which means there’s a real risk that many of the plants, living things we’ve nurtured with love, may not survive or could even be sold before this ever reaches court. I’m holding on to hope that the system will serve justice and not fail us.
What we witnessed at his home was overwhelming, and I am not talking just plants but it was an ocean of plants, many clearly not his own. Since yesterday, I’ve heard countless heartbreaking stories about this man, and it’s become clear this is not just about one person. His wife maybe deeply entwined in this web of theft and manipulation. It’s not just troubling, it’s terrifying.
I won’t say too much right now, but please be alert. This is not a harmless situation, and above all, I ask you to keep the children involved in your thoughts and prayers.

To our beautiful community: thank you. Many of you know how hard we work at our little store, and how much of our hearts we pour into it. Your support, love, and kind words yesterday meant the world. This is what I choose to carry with me.
I will always search for the silver lining, because I believe love and kindness are far more powerful than greed and cruelty. Wild & Whimsy will continue to bloom, offering a space filled with hope, beauty, and joy. We will not be broken.
And when the time is right, I will share more about this man and the truth behind what’s been happening. Evil hides in shadows, but we are not afraid of the dark. Our light will shine so bright, he’ll regret the day he ever dared steal from
Wild & Whimsy.

And we will seek justice.
