Training is serious work, so the naps are serious too 😴

Our dogs put in the effort every single session, and in between, they get the rest they've earned. Tired dogs are happy dogs, and happy dogs are the best students.

This is the part they don't always show you.

A lot of leash pulling starts because dogs are more engaged with the environment than with us.

Outside is full of distractions:
- smells
- people
- movement
- other dogs

If we only expect focus once the leash gets tight, we miss a lot of important moments before that.

One of the easiest ways to build better engagement on walks is by rewarding your dog when they voluntarily check in with you.

👉 Even a quick glance up matters!

Those moments teach your dog that paying attention to you outside is rewarding too. Not just everything happening around them.

The more value you build in staying connected with you, the more your dog begins choosing calmer behavior on their own.

Puppy training isn’t just about commands ❌

One of the most important skills you can teach is how to do NOTHING.

👉 Without it, puppies stay overstimulated, and that’s when you see chewing, barking, accidents, and constant movement.

Back tying (tethering) helps teach calm, neutral behavior early on.

Why it matters:
- teaches your puppy how to slow down and relax
- helps reduce stress and over-arousal
- supports potty training by limiting accidents
- builds impulse control
- keeps your puppy (and your home) safe

Use it during downtime. NOT as punishment, but as a way to build calm behavior.

Because a pup that knows how to settle handles real life a whole lot better 🐶

"Uncontrollable. Times two." Toby and Gail came to us with one mission: to get Lily under control.

Your dog isn't ignoring you outside because they forgot how to listen...

Outside is simply a different world. One full of competing distractions that are often more rewarding than your cue. If recall hasn't been trained through that level of distraction, it's not going to hold up when it counts.

That's why we start with a long line. It gives us the ability to build reliable recall while still allowing freedom of movement, without setting the dog up to fail before they're ready.

Once the behavior is proven in real-world distractions, that's when recall starts working where it actually matters.

Recall doesn't fall apart outside because your dog forgot it. It falls apart because it was never built for that environment.

Indoors, everything works in your favor: fewer distractions, close distance, and a predictable setting your dog is comfortable in.

Responding to you is easy because nothing else is competing for their attention.

Step outside, and the game changes entirely. Smells, movement, other dogs, people, open space. All of it becomes more interesting than your cue. And the further away your dog is, the harder it is for your communication to land.

Recall isn't broken. It just hasn't been proofed for the real world yet... and that's exactly what training is for!
