Happy Valentine’s Day!
The holiday has us thinking about how lucky we are to have dogs. Their unconditional love for us in good times and bad, sadness and joy, is unrivaled by any other animal. (Sorry cat people, we love cats too, but let’s be real.) If you’re looking for ways to give the love back to your pup, try some of our handy tips:
Tell your dog you love them by:
1.) Giving them tasty treats! Dogs aren’t too picky (they’re scavengers by nature) so any tasty treat will do. A bite of pizza crust is just as good as a fancy treat from the store. (Just make sure you’re aware if your dog has allergies!)
2.) Take them on a sniffari! Often when we walk our dogs, we’re on a mission to get through the route. Letting your dog sniff as long as they want on every bush and rock is a great activity for them. Sniffing actually increases brain activity and can tire your dog out better than a fast walk, and it lets your dog do something they really love.
3.) Go somewhere new! Exploring novel smells and unusual places can be a real treat for your pup. Even just driving them to a new part of the neighborhood where you don’t usually walk can make your dog’s day!
4.) For dogs who love physical contact, petting can be a great show of affection. Let your dog tell you where they want to be pet - gently pet them, then pause and leave your hands out. See what body part your dog presses into them. Some dogs will turn for the rump rub, and other dogs will actually flip your hand onto their head or back for scritches!
5.) Of course, a spa day never goes unappreciated! While your dog may prefer to roll in stinky things, a clean coat and freshly trimmed nails go a long way to making your dog feel their best. Contact us at [email protected] to book a grooming today!
Whatever you’re doing to celebrate the day, we are wishing you and your dog a lot of love!
xoxo,
