This October, our Advanced Animal Care Berea team joined the other AAC locations for our Annual Awards Banquet — one of our favorite nights of the year! 💙 It’s always inspiring to take a step back and celebrate the hard work, kindness, and growth we see from our team every single day.

Special thanks to Christy Speller Photography for the photos and to Grant Martin Guitarist for the live music and to Chenault Vineyards for their amazing venue space!

🐾 💙 A newer face around the office we’re proud to introduce is Baylea. Baylea has an easy going personality and has blended in so well to our team!

Baylea writes “I’m a Christian that was born and raised in Williamsburg, Ky. I’m the second oldest of seven siblings (my big sister has me beat by 11 months). I’ve worked in vet med for nearly five years. I want to own a farm in the future and practice large animal medicine. I love nearly every shape of critter and am thankful to work in a field that is dedicated to caring for them.”

Baylea is also new to our team AND new to vet medicine as a technician but she is a quick learner. Baylea’s coworkers describe her as loyal, thorough, patient, and kind. She has such strong work ethic and is always willing to learn new skills. Baylea has an obvious passion for working with animals. She quietly keeps our place spotless and is quickly becoming a familiar face with our clients and patients. Baylea is always ready to learn a new skill whether it’s a new restraint technique or how to run an in clinic diagnostics. Her coworkers enjoy working with her because she is kind and eager to learn all she can from our amazing team.

Thanks for all your hard work Baylea!! 🐾💙

🐾 💙 A newer face around the office we’re proud to introduce is Fiona. Even though Fiona is newer to our team she fit in right away!

Fiona writes ”I am from Hopkinsville Kentucky where I was raised with dogs for my whole life. I currently own one Husky/German shepherd mix (Raya) who lost her eyes when she was 1 year old to glaucoma. I also own a cat (Astrid) and snake (Rayne). I have been in vet med for about 9 years and have been licensed for only 2 months. I love working at AAC-Berea and I’m excited to learn as much as I can from such wonderful people!!”

Fiona’s coworkers describe her as such a good Licensed Veterinary Technician! She is naturally skilled and has a passion for her career. She's such a joy to work with and brings a positive attitude, she’s always smiling! Fiona is the definition of a team player and is always willing to step up. She has collaborative mindset and makes each work day enjoyable! Fiona is friendly, very knowledgeable, and eager to get to know our clients and their furry friends.

Thank you for all your hard work Fiona!! 🐾 💙

🐾 💙Our second employee you all know and love is Lori!

Lori writes “I’m from Berea, KY. I’ve been with AAC for 6 years now. I started at AAC ER and was there for about a year until I started at Berea 5 years ago and have been here ever since. I miss the excitement of the ER but I enjoy getting to know our patients and clients more personally at Berea. My hobbies include cooking, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. I also love a good latte and I’m quite crafty at nail art.”

Lori’s coworkers describe her as the calm in the storm, always finding a way to get things done. She’s incredibly efficient and so determined. Her integrity and compassion are truly admirable. After a couple cups of coffee, Lori keeps us laughing with her stories. She is smart, dependable, and always willing to help out her coworkers and clients alike.

Thank you for all your hard work Lori!! 🐾 💙

🐾 💙Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾💙

Veterinary technicians are responsible for caring for our pets and wear many, many hats. From triage to surgical monitoring to client education and everything in between.
This year we’re sharing familiar faces that keep our AAC Berea clinic running. Up first is Amy, our most experienced licensed veterinary technician and someone we’re sure you guys know and love!

Amy writes: “I've been working in vet med for 24 years and have been a licensed veterinary technician for 21 years. Originally from NY, but have been in Berea for 7 years. I have a small horse and cattle farm with my husband and 2 kids. Horseback riding and hiking are my favorite pastimes. My favorite part about vet med is educating clients. I love being a part of a puppy or kitten's first visit and following its entire life to the last visit.”

Amy’s coworkers describe her as kind, patient, intelligent, problem solving, understanding, a great listener, and a hard worker. She’s a great comfort to those that have the privilege of working with her. She goes above and beyond for each of our staff, clients, and patients!

Thank you for all your hard work Amy!! 💙 🐾

Our Story

Dr. Martin is the founder of Advanced Berea but his Berea roots don’t start with this 10 year old hospital. Dr. Martin was the first Berea college graduate to be accepted into Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1973 a first generation college graduate became Dr. Jim Martin, and was one of only three in his class to open his own hospital. He returned to Kentucky and opened Berea’s FIRST animal clinic operated in his garage. For over 45 years now he has maintained an animal hospital in Madison County.

Advanced Animal Care Berea has been serving Berea, Ky for 10 years. Our mission is creating relationships with the pets and people in our community while providing education in a positive atmosphere. Dr. Hill became our head veterinarian in Berea in 2019. She has cultivated an environment that is refreshing, professional and upbeat. At Advanced Berea we take pride in getting to know our clients and all of their pets. We enjoy the small town feel of our practice and how we know your name when you walk in the door and you know ours. We offer routine wellness, vaccinations, spays, neuters, orthopedics, in-house lab, x-rays and medicine.
