Fighting the “Norm” when training a service dog! 🦮

Sadie is being trained to help me as a medical alert dog (stroke) and also to work with me on Neurological issues.

As I stated before I am not a trainer, we are just sharing our journey as she gets her training to help me.

There is a real stigma that a service dog is trained to help individuals with a visual and obvious impairment. 🐶

But, remember we have service dogs and hat help diabetics, cardiovascular patients, neurological patients, ptsd and many other conditions. You may look at the person and not be able to visually tell what that person needs but the dog knows and the dog trained to help each person individually.

Coco was feeling really left out because she does not have her own page! She enjoys spending my work out sessions with me 😂 (catdog).

My mom actually had her phone and got a snippet of me loose leash walking 🦮.

It was a short one as it started to rain. We all know I don’t want to mess up my beautiful grooming from Karri.

I am getting better and better as we take the same route everyday. Things are a little less interesting than when we started do I am walking more and looking, sniffing less.

We will do this at least for another week and then we will put my service vest on and head to the mall for some service dog indoor training.

On a side note, remember my mom is not a dog trainer (it’s all she could choose from when creating my page). She is learning with me, so I will become her medical alert dog with her help and help from the trainer. 😊

My mom says it takes her twice as long to do things BUT I think I’m a big help 🐶. Who needs a perfect bed when you are just going to crawl back in it? 🛌

I almost forgot to mention that I ❤️ Loves Travel Centers. My mom and I discovered they have dog parks!

They were mowed well, supper clean and so convenient.

This way I could do “you know what”, get some snacks and my mom could sit at a picnic table and have snacks as also.

Lastly, I got home and had a day at the spa with my breeder. Karri Konze ❤️🐶🐾

Then I had a stop in Berea, KY. This was amazing as there were two other dogs. 🐕

One of them, Buster, was a giant me! We loved to play and run the property. It was just out of town. I stayed right next to my friend and never needed a leash. 🦮

He was definitely my kindred spirit.

I just had a big road trip with my mom! Florida to Wisconsin and I did great! 😊

We had a couple stop but I crushed the bathroom stop at the rest stop. 🛑

Since I had been desensitized to blow dryers the bathroom hand dryers were no match for me. 😂
