Gaging interest in 4H for Crescent Valley area! If you and your children are interested let me know.
I specialize in equine, but 4H offers many other topics for children.
We have been discussing when to host the first meeting. How many? And what days work?
Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

With Surprise, she can be challenging and fun to work with.
She still has many behaviors of a foal. Her mother died when she was young, Bonnie became her security blanket. As her as d I keep working I am becoming that security, which great. That's the first step. Until I need to start asking her to be confident on her own and moving out more, for everyone's safety and for her to grow, mentally.
Brick will look to me in uncertain situations which is great. He looks to me for guidance and direction as he should. Too much isn't good. Always have to find that balance.
I have to be, very flexible and patient. I understand every session is not going to go as planned or expected, depending on where she's at mentally each day.
Training is up and down, forward and back to where she's comfortable. That's what we did today. Tested the limits a little bit, back to what she's comfortable with.
When we hit that emotional limit, it is important to stop, redirect before an explosion happens. In order to keep her and myself safe.
Time, I have time, I never rush a horse.

We took Bonnie out yesterday.

Surprise! I'm so proud of her progress. This is just a few clips of the beginning today. We also started introducing some girth pressure and I threw the surcingle on a bit less gentle today. She did great.

Surprise is getting more consistent every session. Much calmer, willing, very sweet. Her personality reminds me of Impress.
I'm very proud of her and can't wait to keep watching her grow into a wonderful horse and friend 💗

Today is the first day, that everything seemed to be coming together for Surprise. All the little pieces that don't look like much, are starting to come together. Even with her friends gone, she maintained her focus and calmness with me!
She's moving her shoulders and starting to move forward. I put her other halter on and off, I held one foot nicely without her moving away. Her typical response is to back out of uncomfortable and uncertain things. We are working on that.

Training is never a linear process. Horses have good days and bad days, trainers have good days and bad days.
Things will start coming together more and more over time, consistency, and patience. Learn to read the horse each day and you may have to be flexible in the Training plans.
Learning timing and pressure is everything. When to apply it and how much, when to release and give them a break to think.
Today Surprise was very calm and focused.
I didn't review these or edit them. Only a few I got before my phone storage was full.
While I working on backing stuff to free up space, I'll share them with you anyway.
I'm still building her trust and starting to get her to move her shoulders. Picking up one foot a few seconds at a time. Touch, she's very sensitive. Approach, back away.

Someone asked why I had the whip in front of Lit. Well it's all about body language. I was to try to get an updated video tomorrow. Basically I aim to be able to control every part of his body using mine. For some of the beginning movements I taught him, I don't even need a whip anymore, I can use my hand and he will do it, all of which will eventually be transferred into saddle. I can get him to turn and back without touching him. He needs more pressure to go forward in the arena because he doesn't have the support of the round pen rails. Shaping is the best technique I've ever learned. They may not understand what I'm doing now, but they will.

Session 5
Took a while to get back to where we left off. I got to where I can start to gently lift one front leg without her getting scared. I stop before she reacts. Starts with patience. One split second at a time. Working up to duration. I'm not going to overwhelm a horse in the same thing. Starting to teach her to walk forward on a line and stop.
I'd like to get to the point where I can start taking the halter off and on every time. She's not ready for that yet.
Haltering sessions will come. Like I did with zipper. Maybe this afternoon I'll take it off. We'll see, I'll play it by ear with what I want to do with her and her training plan.
