Another group in our community, Pilot Club of Bennettsville, stopped by today with a donation for operating funds. We rely so heavily on these donations to be able to provide all the care our shelter pets (currently over 200 cats and dogs) need and continue saving lives of homeless animals in Marlboro County. Homeless animals are a widespread community problem that needs the help of ALL community members to fix, so we appreciate support from local groups helping achieve our life saving animal rescue mission! Thank you Pilot Club of Bennettsville!!! 🩵🐾

MCHS FCA brought some much needed donations to the shelter today that they collected this week. It takes a village to keep our overcrowded shelter of animals cared for, and we greatly appreciate the support of our community members who help make this possible. We especially love to see our younger generation stepping up in big ways like this to make a positive impact on their community!! Thank you MCHS FCA & GO DAWGS!!! 🖤💛

⬆️ above is link for ordering a Justice for Journey shirt with images of her face and paw print (all front and back & one of many style/color options pictured below)

It has meant so much to everyone in our organization to see each message of support from near and far since Journey’s story was first released. It takes community engagement on a large scale like this to enact real change, and we hope these shirts will be a symbol of the improvements and protections we are still fighting for.

Not only will funds raised from shirt purchases go towards Journey’s Memorial Fund Spay & Neuter Initiative to prevent other unwanted puppies from ending up in situations of abuse or being discarded like Journey, but each shirt will spark much needed conversations. When you wear your shirt, tell her story of a beautiful, innocent life cut tragically short by someone with no regard for her life. The man responsible for her death may be behind bars for now, but this is Journey’s story and deserves to be told in the fight to keep these cases from happening again and again.

We are so grateful to Bennettsville Police Department for their diligence and commitment to pursuing and ultimately arresting the abuser responsible for Journey’s horrific and untimely death. This case was exceptionally emotional, drawing abundant community concern, but we can finally have the peace of knowing that we have made the first big step towards

Moving forward, we are thankful for BPD’s openness to continue working with us to improve protections for animals in our city, not only through reactive measures but also proactive measures. Cooperative efforts, open and honest dialogue, and a united front against issues like these will be essential for lasting, meaningful change where both of our organizations will achieve mutually desired outcomes of a safer community for all.

This poor, sweet, innocent girl was brought in by City of Bennettsville Animal Control today. Marlboro County has got to do better! When will a brighter future unfold? When will owners be motivated to treat their animals with compassion and respect? This precious girl isn’t a stray; she had an owner who just didn’t care. This precious girl will receive the love and care she deserves, and a family that will truly care for her.

An innocent life reduced to a small box of ashes and just a few short days worth of memories. A horrendous act of cruelty reduced to a joke for someone seeking reward money. Even from beyond the rainbow bridge, Journey continues to shine a bright light on just how awful and heartless humans can be with no regard for the unspeakable suffering innocent animals endure. But this box will stay in our shelter and remind us to keep fighting to protect those that cannot protect themselves and continue being the voice for the voiceless.

‼️We still are not giving up on finding the person responsible‼️

The Humane Society of Marlboro County has received additional funds for a $2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ reward offer from anonymous donors for information leading to the apprehension and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for abandoning the animal (dog) in a manner that resulted in its prolonged and agonizing decline.

A dedicated tip line has been established to collect credible information to facilitate the arrest and prosecution of the individual(s) involved.

To the people that have reached out about the post with information on Journeys abuser that was on Facebook, appears to be fake and her life of abuse and being left for dead resulting in brain damage that led to her life ending is a joke to these people. This is not only sickening that people would joke so freely and laugh at this unimaginable act but it’s heartbreaking.
