I’m SO excited to finally announce that I’ve officially opened a Pookabosh Etsy shop! 🛍️❤️

What started as an idea to create some fun Pookabosh merch has already turned into something I’m having so much fun with — and I have LOTS more planned!

Meet Ruby! 🖤🐾 This beautiful Black Mouth Cur came in for a bath and some pampering and left feeling fresh and clean! 🛁✨

We tried to get a few pictures afterward, but Dad had just pulled up… so apparently looking at the camera was no longer an option. 😂 She had much more important things to keep her eyes on!

She did, however, decide she could spare a paw for me. 🥹🐾 I’ll take it!

I actually wrote this post last night and saved it in my drafts to share later. Then this morning, Zoie’s mom called to cancel her next appointment and let me know that sweet Zoie will soon be making her way across the rainbow bridge. 💔🌈

I don’t think I could have known when I wrote this just how true those words would be so soon. I’m heartbroken knowing that our last appointment really was our last, but I’m also incredibly grateful that I got one more visit with her.. and that I gave her all those extra snuggles. ❤️

This is sweet little Zoie. 🥹❤️ She’s 16 years old, and I’ve had the privilege of grooming her for about half of her life.
As she’s gotten older, I’ve found myself wondering at each appointment if it might be our last one together. It’s a thought I try not to dwell on, but it’s also been a reminder to appreciate every visit I get with her a little bit more.

One of the hardest parts about being a groomer is that these dogs become so much more than just clients. When you care for the same dog year after year, you build a relationship with them, learn all their little quirks, watch them grow older, and truly come to love them like they’re one of your own. Saying goodbye is a part of this job that never gets easier..

So these days, Zoie has gotten a few extra breaks, lots of patience, and of course, extra snuggles with me before she goes home. 🥰🐾

I’m so grateful for all the years I got with this sweet little lady, and especially grateful that our last appointment ended with some extra love. ❤️

Give your fur babies an extra hug for me today. 🐾

I know, I know… I haven’t posted in a while. 😅 I’ve been terrible about remembering to take and/or post pictures lately! But I do have some exciting news about something I’ve been working on behind the scenes 👀🐾 So stay tuned!

In the meantime, everyone meet Scout — full name, Scout Nunchuk 😂❤️ This handsome Australian Shepherd is seriously the sweetest boy!

I used to groom Scout every once in a while at my old shop, and even when I wasn’t the one working on him, I always had to stop and say hi. 🥰 So I was very excited to get to see this sweet face again!

His mom and I have also crossed paths at some of the events we’ve both done, and she is an AMAZING photographer! 📸 If you haven’t checked out her photography yet, you definitely should — she is phenomenal. 😍 Wendy Evans

August has always been a special month for me because it's my birthday month, but this year it holds another meaning too.

While Pookabosh didn't officially open to clients until September, August is when the dream truly came to life. It was the month I got my van, invested in equipment, completed all the licensing and insurance etc. and spent countless hours getting everything ready to open. I even did a few practice grooms to my neighbor's dog and friends' dogs before officially opening my books.

Looking back now, it's hard to believe that was already a year ago.

Starting my own business was exciting, terrifying, and one of the biggest leaps of faith I've ever taken. There were so many unknowns, but I believed in the dream and hoped others would too.

Over the past year, I've had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people and caring for so many amazing dogs. Every appointment, every referral, every review, every like, comment, share, and word of encouragement has helped Pookabosh grow into what it is today.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Supporting a small business means so much more than most people realize, and I truly couldn't have done this without all of you.

Although September marks my official one-year anniversary of opening my books, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate where it all began. I'll also be celebrating my first official year in business throughout September with a client appreciation surprise for every dog that comes in for an appointment.

Thank you for believing in me, trusting me with your pups, and being part of this journey. Here's to one amazing year, and to many more to come. ❤️🐾

This sweet Australian Labradoodle was such a good boy and left looking soft, fluffy, and ready for whatever adventures come next.

Nova came in for a little spa day! 🫧✨

This hyperlapse gives you a peek at everything that goes into getting that soft, fluffy finish—from the bath to the blow dry to the brush out. It's always so satisfying seeing all that loose coat come out and watching them leave feeling fresh and comfortable.
