We are seeking the right home for a female Eclectus. This bird will take a woman who is EXTREMELY good with birds (she tolerates men) and has a long history of living with birds, knowledge of their psychology and care. Specifically knowledge of this female species of birds. This bird needs a quiet home and enviroment with someone who can spend a LOT of time with her. She is aggressive to other birds and will try to kill them (or succeed). So please, if you have other birds? This is not a bird for your home. She is overstimulated in our environment here at our parrot rescue. She bites. Let me rephrase, she attacks. When overstimulated by other animals, noises or even loud voices she will turn on the humans she loves and bite. She is not to be trusted around children, although she has never bitten any of our grandchildren. I have let them hold her, but that is because I'm super protective of them and I know her behavior and when she is emotionally capable of being held. I hand raised this bird from a fledgling and we love her very much. She is good with our two cats. She has never hurt our dogs, but our cats amd dogs know her behavior also, they have been raised around her. She is 6 years old. We are broken hearted at the idea of rehoming her, but we do want what is best for her and she is simply overstimulated here and obviously not happy here. We would like a Central Oregon home for her so she can easily come back to us if a new home doesn't work out for her. Please friend me and private message me if you have questions or are interested. We are going to put her on medication for her aggressive behavior. We are praying it has a positive impact on her. Additionally, if you are reading this, and you or someone you know has ever experienced something like this with a female Eclectus? PLEASE contact me. In my 44 years of experience with raising, rescuing, and traning of all parrot species, I have never seen anything like this.
