We have another truly amazing AQHA horse on consignment her at DH2. Meet Huck, a 10 yo 15.3 hand Gelding that has been with us here on the ranch since March of 2026. He came from a barrel program where he didn’t show much interest in being a barrel racing horse. Huck started our 90 day program in April of 2026 where he received an intensive restart and a solid education in the foundations of reining and cow horse. He absolute crushed it during his 90 days and completed the program in July of this year.
He was so successful in the program that in August we began to use him as our in house lesson horse for teaching riders of all levels. During his time as a lesson horse we have continued to keep him legged up, supple, soft, and continuing his education weekly. Huck has experience working cattle, has sorted cattle, very well balanced, frames up nicely, is a great trail horse, crosses water, bridges, and is a very comfortable soft ride, a very sweet disposition, is sound and can be ridden by any level of rider. He has been hauled to the beach, is a social butterfly getting along well with new horses in the pasture and new riders alike.
He does not have show experience but has all the potential to do so. He stands for the farrier, is a vet favorite earning high remarks every year for his annual visit, and does not require extra maintenance.

Health history:

A PPE was performed in April of 2025 when current ownership purchased him and he has been a happy healthy horse since they purchased him.
*PPE welcomed at buyers expense.
He is UTD on vaccines/dentals, is ready to take out on the trail or just ride for pleasure in the arena. He is truly a great all around horse. ✌️0,000 but the right fit is the most important. Pm us or contact us for videos at:

Low-drama, big-hearted, and bred for athletic ability. Wren is a 2018 Thoroughbred mare with classic bloodlines—sired by 2005 Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo (Holy Bull), known for passing on sturdy bone, balance, and sensible brains. She is an affectionate, partnership-oriented mare who bonds deeply with her person, making her very rewarding to handle one-on-one.

After retiring from the track, Wren was restarted as a barrel prospect in late 2024, then purchased in early 2025 to develop as a polo pony. She is currently in her last 30days of our 90 day program in reined cow horse refining her rate, softness, and handle. While not finished in a single discipline, her athletic build, trainability, and versatile background make her a total open book for whatever direction her next rider chooses.

Don’t just ride the movement.
Understand it. Measure it. Improve it.

FROM “FEEL” TO UNDERSTANDING
A talented rider develops feel. A knowledgeable rider understands what that feel means. At DH2, we want to develop both. Instead of simply saying, “Your horse is moving better,” we want to understand why.
Is the horse becoming more symmetrical?
Is the rider influencing the horse’s balance?
Is the horse loading each side differently?
Is the rider’s position helping or interfering?
Are our training changes producing measurable changes in movement?
And most importantly—what can we change to create better movement?

THE DH2 DIFFERENCE
We aren’t replacing horsemanship with technology. We’re using technology to make horsemanship more measurable. The data doesn’t replace the experienced eye, feel of the horse, veterinary evaluation, or the knowledge of a skilled trainer. It gives us another tool—to slow movement down, measure what is happening, compare changes, and use objective information to complement what we see and feel in the saddle.

TRACKING PROGRESS — NOT JUST TAKING A SNAPSHOT
One analysis gives us information. But our proprietary method analysis uses multiple analyses to give us a story. By establishing baseline movement measurements and repeating analysis throughout a training program, we can begin to see changes over time rather than relying solely on memory or subjective observation. This can be valuable for young horses, performance horses, cow and sorting horses, developing new skills, improving rider biomechanics, horses returning to work, and conditioning or rehabilitation monitoring.

Hosting and teaching at clubs sorting clinic this last weekend for our 10th and final clinic at the ranch for 2026, and it was quite the grand finale!!

CCC had 27 riders with some traveling and staying with us for an amazing weekend of introducing new riders and growing skills for current riders in the sport of ranch sorting.

As DH2 ranch closes the 2026 season for clinics, I can’t help but reflect on an incredible year. 10 clinics and 8 of them being our own!

As a third generation trainer, an education, experience in application, continuing education, show experience, daily intensive real time cattle behavior studies as a cattleman in caring-for our own herd, a keen eye developed from a lifetime of reading horses, understanding and studying horses on a cellular and biological level, and the right tools in my training tool-box, I acquired this ranch in Nov. of last year with the idea of growing Double Helix Horsemanship to be a place where our education, application, and experience in horsemanship and cow behavior, and successful training, to be a place where riders and horses can come to let us share our horsemanship education and knowledge through lessons, cow work clinics, sorting clinics, cutting and cow work practices.

It was an unusable facility when we acquired it but we poured our hearts into restoring and rebuilding the training facility to the specs that allow our program to consistently produce education and amazing horses for our clients.

I am incredibly proud to say that over the last 6 months we have had over 130 riders and horses come through our ranch with over 60 of them new to cow work. We have successfully helped all of them work through mental and physical challenges, grow their abilities in their respective cow horse disciplines, or simply helped them to completely step in the world of cow work by introducing them and their horses to foundational cow horse horsemanship, maneuvering, reining, cattle behavior, and correctly controlling and working cattle opening the door for them to to go into any cow horse sport discipline they choose.

5 months ago we acquired Chex on his 3rd birthday to build our own reined cowhorse to have ready for the 2027 show season! His seasoning and development in our program has been amazing!
