Sometimes we just have to push horses to do things they don’t want to or aren’t comfortable with especially when they have had several hours of repetitive ground work, giving them the tools to learn how to handle themselves instead of choosing the blow up option is always the goal despite having those tools some still choose to explode sometimes (which is probably why most people dont choose to start c**ts for a profession when you have been doing it for 20 years or more i promise you will experience “those horses”) And even though you may be watching a piece of the puzzle I promise you the hours put into these horses cannot be judged off of watching a couple minute video on fb…
Rant over, Now into this big boy! Deisel is a broke gelding and he has had a history of explosive behavior at random, he is great until he’s not, he’s been pretty good for me so far but I can tell some days I take him out and he’s just more uptight and tense, today was one of those days so why not try and trigger some behavior by adding something new 🤷♀️ you can’t work through it if you don’t experience it. He wasn’t a fan of the sled and everytime I stepped into the saddle with the rope he was instantly tense so we went back to the ground, repeated a few times and decided to ditch the saddle so we had more feel and less “things in the way” he let me drag it around ba****ck for a bit and was more relaxed so then we moved onto what I’ve been working with him with on his back which is some collection, and driving forward into the bridle using his hindquarters a little better, yielding off my legs and just all around trying to get him more responsive, he gets stiff to the right and loses his forward motion so we are working through some of that, I do think he could use some chiro work and need to get on finding someone to come see him. But all in all he didn’t do too bad we are going to keep working on the sled and hopefully we can have some fun this winter dragging the kids around 🙌goals😬
