The journey started in 2021. My son, Louis junior, was part of Mike's first black powder spiraled horn antelope (eland). A lot of waiting, running, sitting, crawling, pulling out thorns and giving it our all. Mike finished the Southern Spiral Slam with a flintlock! The history does not end there. Mike has now completed a DOUBLE spiral slam after hunting eland, kudu, bushbuck and nyala with a self bow and then again with black powder (flintlock). This is Sofala Safaris at its very best - we can hunt at Sofala, we can go places. South Africa has so much to offer. We build relationships and we create memories and stories to be remembered for a long time. The true hunter always looks for more adventure.

Mike hunted the common duiker with a recurve and Darryl’s double barrel flintlock went “ka…boom” 💥I could tell the gemsbok was very high on Darryl’s list for this hunt - it is incredible to be part of a hunting experience like this.

My brother Marinus is the cook this week. My goooodness the waterbuck carpaccio was just unreal. Like the best appetizer I have ever had!! Special times, amazing bushveld sunset. Beautiful waterbuck bull shot by trad bow hunter Norm. Never thought a double rifle flintlock would actually be so needed as Darryl had to shoot a second shot in not time after a warthog lunged at him and the guide!
