Grateful for the Work You Don’t See

I’ve been feeling really grateful lately. Not for the big moments, but for the behind the scenes work that lets me show up as the athlete, rider, entrepreneur, and human I want to be. People see the horses and the progress, but there is a whole system underneath it. And if you ever want details, feel free to drop questions in the comments.

The truth is that I’m a serial entrepreneur running multiple businesses and managing investments. That is how I afford my horses and the life I’ve built, but it also means I have to run my body and my time with a lot of intention. If you’re curious about how I structure any of this, ask away.

The Athlete • Strength and mobility before the barn
• Conditioning so I can ride multiple horses
• Recovery days treated like training
• Nutrition that supports inflammation control
Questions on exercises I do? Drop them below.

The Lupus Management • Daily check ins with my body
• Strategic rest
• Adjusting intensity when needed
• Habits that support long term health
If you want to know how I manage this around a busy schedule, just ask.

The Injury Prevention • PT exercises
• Stretching and cooldown work
• Boundaries to avoid setbacks
Curious about my PT, massage, or chiro routine? Comment and I’ll break it all down.

The Entrepreneur • Running multiple businesses with purpose
• Managing investments that fund my goals
• Systems that create time for the barn
• Discipline to keep everything aligned
If you want the financial or time breakdown, drop questions in the comments.

The Rider • Showing up focused for every horse
• Studying and improving constantly
• Treating horsemanship as a craft

This is the part most people never see. The self management, the discipline, the structure, the constant adjustments so I can balance chronic illness, entrepreneurship, and being the rider I want to be.

And honestly, I’m grateful I get to do this work every day. If there is anything you’re curious about, from supplements to scheduling to the behind the scenes finances of this lifestyle, ask away. I’m happy to talk about all of it.

after a long week at work, filled with finishing up 2025 and prepping 2026, I spent some time at the barn hanging with the big everyone got their tails washed and put up for winter and then I spent some time sitting on them and cuddling them after their dinners. I am so they are mine , ,

Sirius who got dropped off at my house, said he's dangerous fix him, went on to win every dressage test at State and then he broke my hand 6 weeks before I started college on a music scholarship for violin 🤦🏾 to my sweet boy that got dropped at a killpen to bring the coolest big guy ever 😍

Serving in the Army National Guard shaped me in ways I am still uncovering.

I learned to stand on my own two feet. Independence is not a slogan, it is a daily practice, especially when no one is watching.

I started to wean out the people who were not for me. Protecting my peace became part of my discipline, right next to lacing my boots.

I learned that true friends care about you in and out of uniform. They celebrate your wins, check on you after the hard days, and show up without being asked.

I learned that harm can wear familiar faces. It is not all men, but it is definitely some men. It can be deeply personal and it can cross lines that should never be crossed. Naming it matters, listening matters, and looking out for each other matters.

I earned my Expert marksmanship badge, the highest qualification for Army shooters. Hours on the range taught me focus, breath control, and owning every shot.

I learned how to save a life in absolutely chaotic situations. Training took over where fear tried to speak, and calm became a tool I carry everywhere.

I became jumpy around loud noises, and I am honest about that. Healing is not weakness, it is work.

I grew as an empathetic and understanding person. I served with people who had less education and with people who came from other countries. I listened to stories about racism, classism, and religious persecution. Those forces are not only outside. They can show up inside our own ranks and inside ourselves. Seeing that up close changed how I lead and how I love.

I learned to love fiercely and to find fun even in the toughest moments. Laughter in the field hits different. So does a hug after a long day.

The Guard gave me grit, clarity, and a family I did not know I needed. I am proud of who

I was in uniform and who I am becoming out of it. Pic of being patriotic and my favorite photo of me in uniform.

If you’d asked me five years ago where I’d be now, I definitely wouldn’t have said sitting in an arena at a barn I absolutely love, surrounded by fancy horses, watching one of the best (yes, I’m biased) dressage instructors teach back-to-back lessons while I take pages of notes. But here we are, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

21 incredible rides in two days. New friends, old friends, amazing sourdough (thanks Megan!), sushi, and just barely avoiding freezing our butts off.

My Saturday’s rides? Not great. Between horses moving in, my nerves about horses moving in, Indra’s new joint support routine (she’s feeling all the feelings), and of course Brad’s voice 😉, it was a lot.

Sunday was better. I settled in, gave both ponies more warm-up time, and even though I was still riding literal dragons (see photos for proof), the rides felt so much better.

's homework: no dropping too low in his neck (never thought I’d say that), plus collected canter and medium trot. I thought the trot was all over the place, but watching the video back—Brad was right. My big baby boy looked great and tried so hard.

And … still my favorite ride, even with our occasional “discussions.” Now that she’s feeling amazing and has figured out her hind leg, she’s got a new level of spice. She doesn’t quite know what to do with all her power yet, but she’s very sure she does. Brad asked for canter halfpass and I completely fried her brain. Whoops. Guess we’ll add that to the list for winter schooling.

A few months to work on it before Brad’s next clinic in March. It’ll fly by!

Photo cred to the best horse friend a girl could ask for, Ashley. Next clinic she’ll be riding too, so I’ll have to rig the schedule so she can still take pics 🤣

And huge thanks to Sheila (and Curt) and Devin for making this weekend happen. It didn’t go unnoticed. You guys are the best 😍🥹
