I have long been a watcher of animals
I spent 25 years observing human behavior and helping children and adults with autism and other cognitive disorders. In some cases these folks had severe behaviors which kept them from living normal lives with their families and in the communities. My goal was to give them and their families the tools to sort out and understand the world. And to use these too
ls to make better behavioral choices and to compe and interact with the world around them. Often times, this process was very simple. Giving someone structure and consistency and calm and assertive leadership on which they could rely solved a multitude of issues. My goal is to do the same thing for you and your dog. When people remember me or make a remark, the highest compliment I can ask for is to be told that I look for the good in everyone. They inherently want to do what they are asked to do. They want a calm and quiet leader that is sure of themselves. I want to teach you how to do just that. This isn’t rocket science. Every single dog owner can do this. I have been actively involved in dog rescue for many years. I gained much insight and became very skilled at working with the dogs that were fearful, aggressive and unsocialized. Eventually, my pack was made up of these rehabilitated dogs. I lovling refer to my home as the Isle of Misfit dogs. They were unloved, unwanted and unable to live in a typical family home. They are loved and wanted here and they have a job. They assist in rehabiliation of other fearful and behavioral dogs. My educational background is in Behavioral Psychology and Therapeutic Recreation. But, animals and dogs have always had a presence. I have used animals to heal the humans and now am helping humans heal and live happily with their animal. This background gives me an insight, compassion and understanding that I bring not only to the dog but to the owners as well. I am very involved in the fitness and cycling world and enjoy incorporating my pack into that lifestyle. We mountain bike, hike and enjoy large pack socials and walks. I believe that having a well behaved pet should not be complicated or time consuming. Most folks simply want their dog to not be a jerk. By keeping the process simple and using the correct tools this can happen for all dog owners.
