🎆 **Keep Pets Safe This 4th of July!** 🎆
**From all of us at Meridian Street Veterinary, here are some important tips to keep your furry friends safe this Independence Day!** 🐾🇺🇸

🚫 **Skip the Fireworks**
Loud booms and bright flashes can cause panic in pets. Keep them indoors during fireworks displays—ideally in a quiet, secure room with comforting sounds (TV, white noise, etc.).

🎧 **Create a Calm Space**
Set up a cozy retreat with their favorite toys, blankets, and treats. Try calming aids like anxiety wraps or vet-approved supplements if needed.

🔒 **Check Collars & Microchips**
Scared pets may bolt! Make sure collars are secure and microchip info is up to date in case your pet gets loose.

🍔 **Watch the BBQ**
Grilled goodies, bones, alcohol, and party snacks can be harmful to pets. Keep human food out of reach, and provide pet-safe treats instead.

🔥 **Keep Them Cool**
If you’re outdoors, provide plenty of shade and fresh water. Never leave pets in hot cars—even for a few minutes.

🐾 **Plan Ahead for Anxious Pets**
Talk to your vet about medications or strategies if your pet struggles with noise phobia.

Penny and Bandit came in for their wellness appointments and were recently adopted from the Whatcom Humane Society. They were very popular when they got posted on Facebook after being adopted so it’s like we got to meet some local celebrities! They even have their own page: “The Adventures of Bandit and Penny” go check them out!

February is National Pet Dental Month! Dental Care is a vital part of your furry family members overall health and wellbeing. Why is dental health important for pets?
-Dental disease is a common problem for pets and can lead to other health issues.
